Job Overview: The Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the implementation of the Community Resilience Program (CRP) portfolio under the supervision of the CRP Programme Manager and Programme Officer. This role requires significant travel and involves overseeing the operational, administrative, and financial aspects of the project in accordance with IOM policies and donor requirements. The incumbent will keep the supervisor informed about project implementation status, identify gaps, and suggest improvements. The position also entails participating in the development of work plans, project budgets, and monitoring tools, as well as coordinating data collection and analysis related to project activities. The Project Coordinator will be involved in preparing project reports, liaising with various stakeholders, and contributing to capacity-building activities for IOM staff and partners. Additionally, the role includes attending relevant meetings and workshops, preparing project proposals, and supervising project staff.
Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will assist in coordinating and monitoring the operational, administrative, and financial aspects of the project. Responsibilities include keeping the supervisor informed on project implementation status, identifying gaps, and suggesting actions for improvement. The Project Coordinator will participate in developing work plans, project budgets, and monitoring tools, as well as coordinating data collection and analysis. They will update information management systems and social media platforms regarding project activities, prepare and disseminate project reports, and liaise with donors, partners, and local authorities. The role also involves planning and delivering capacity-building activities, attending conferences and meetings, preparing project proposals, and supervising project staff while undertaking necessary travel for project implementation and monitoring.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Science, Communications, Information Management, or a related field. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in the aforementioned fields with at least two years of relevant professional experience is acceptable. The position requires experience in managing projects, preferably within an international organization, and experience in implementing humanitarian, development, or peacebuilding activities in conflict-affected areas. Strong knowledge of community engagement and experience liaising with local governmental authorities are essential. Familiarity with the Cabo Delgado context and understanding of risk management in insecure areas are also required.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred, but a Bachelor’s degree with sufficient professional experience is also acceptable. The educational background should ideally include studies in Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Science, Communications, or Information Management, equipping the candidate with the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge for the role.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have experience in managing projects, particularly with international organizations. Experience in implementing humanitarian, development, or peacebuilding activities in conflict-affected areas is essential. Candidates should also have experience in community engagement and liaising with local governmental authorities, as well as a strong understanding of the Cabo Delgado context and risk management in conflict situations.
Languages: Fluency in English and Portuguese is mandatory, both oral and written. Knowledge of any other Mozambican languages is considered an asset, enhancing communication with local communities and stakeholders.
