Job Overview:
The Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the coordination, implementation, communication, and monitoring and evaluation of the project titled 'Promoting Climate Resilient and Migrant Inclusive Health System to Address the Climate-Migration-Health Nexus (CMHN)'. This project is funded by the IOM Development Fund (IDF) and aims to enhance the health systems in Nepal to be more inclusive of migrants and resilient to climate change. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Chief of Mission and the Chief Migration Health Officer, collaborating with various stakeholders including government ministries and local authorities. The role requires effective planning and coordination of programmatic activities, ensuring that the project meets its objectives and delivers expected outcomes. The Project Coordinator will also be responsible for monitoring the progress of activities, providing technical guidance, and facilitating consultations and workshops to strengthen institutional understanding of the project's impact on migrant communities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for a wide range of duties including:
  • Supporting the planning, coordination, and implementation of project activities under the CMHN project.
  • Maintaining effective communication and coordination with key stakeholders such as government ministries, healthcare providers, and project partners.
  • Organizing meetings with the Steering Committee and Technical Working Groups to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Monitoring the progress of the national scoping study and the development of health screening guidelines.
  • Providing input to Terms of Reference and assisting in onboarding service providers to empower migrant communities.
  • Supporting the Ministry of Health in organizing consultations and workshops to enhance understanding of the CMHN project.
  • Identifying issues in project implementation and reporting them to the Project Manager with practical solutions.
  • Traveling to project field sites as necessary to monitor activities and provide feedback.
  • Assisting in monitoring and evaluation processes, including tracking project indicators and contributing to project reviews. 1
  • Drafting donor reports and ensuring compliance with IDF guidelines.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in public health, preferably in Health Policy, or a related health field, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, candidates with a High School diploma and seven years of relevant professional experience will also be considered. The educational qualifications must be from accredited universities recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in public health or a related field from an accredited institution. Candidates with a High School diploma may also apply if they have extensive relevant experience. The degree must be from a recognized institution listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that the educational qualifications meet international standards.

Experience:
The position requires proven experience in public health and migration health, particularly in policy development and the implementation of health programs. Candidates should have strong monitoring and evaluation experience, as well as experience working with the Ministry of Health and Population and other relevant ministries. Familiarity with provincial and local government operations is considered an asset. Additionally, candidates should have experience in conducting research, developing knowledge products, and writing concept notes and research proposals. The ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision and attention to detail is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Nepali is mandatory for all applicants, both in oral and written forms. IOM's official languages also include French and Spanish, and proficiency in these languages may be beneficial but is not required. Language proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments to ensure candidates meet the communication requirements of the role.

Additional Notes:
The position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Nepal will be considered. The appointment will be contingent upon medical fitness certification and verification of residency and visa requirements. IOM has a zero-tolerance policy regarding conduct that is incompatible with the organization's aims, including discrimination and harassment. The selection process may be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in similar roles for a period of 24 months.
