Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
The Asia Pacific Regional Office of UNOPS, established to provide leadership and oversight for operations across 17 countries, focuses on ensuring high performance and operational excellence. The office collaborates with key stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and maximize impact through various operating units, including Afghanistan, Myanmar, South Asia, East Asia, and the Asia Regional Health Cluster. UNOPS aims to deliver sustainable development solutions across diverse sectors such as infrastructure, health, and project management.

Job Overview:
The Regional Director for the Asia and Pacific Region is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key regional partners to effectively represent UNOPS capabilities. This role involves providing supervisory guidance to UNOPS Country Offices and Multi-Country Offices, ensuring they meet their delivery results and targets. The Regional Director reports to the Deputy Executive Director, Delivery & Partnerships, and serves as an advisor on corporate strategic planning, organizational development, and regional business development priorities. The position requires a deep understanding of partner needs and the ability to align regional strategies with organizational goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Regional Director will contribute to the formulation of UNOPS strategies and policies, assess regional operations' performance, and recommend changes to enhance results. They will collaborate with senior colleagues to optimize outreach and business development strategies, represent UNOPS at key events, and develop the regional strategy in consultation with the Deputy Executive Director. Responsibilities include overseeing the implementation of the annual business plan, monitoring progress towards objectives, evaluating regional activities for alignment with strategic plans, and ensuring effective resource allocation. The Regional Director will also promote teamwork, foster a positive work environment, and ensure safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security for UNOPS personnel.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in a relevant field or a Bachelor’s Degree with additional years of relevant experience. A minimum of fifteen years of experience in strategic and managerial leadership within large international organizations is required. Proven ability to manage teams and establish partnerships with UN agencies and development organizations is desirable. Experience in the UN system or developing countries is also preferred.

Educational Background:
A Master’s Degree in a relevant field is required. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s Degree combined with two additional years of relevant work experience can be accepted in lieu of the Master’s degree, totaling 17 years of experience.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least fifteen years of experience that combines strategic and managerial leadership in public affairs, management, business development planning, and operations. Experience in managing teams and establishing partnerships with various organizations is essential, along with familiarity with the UN system or experience in developing countries.

Languages:
Fluency in English is essential for this position. Proficiency in French and/or Portuguese is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's profile for this role.

The contract type is a Fixed-Term Appointment at level D2, with an initial duration of two years, renewable based on performance and funding availability.
