This document will serve as a retrospective timeline highlighting key moments, milestones, and advancements made by UN Women and its predecessor, UNIFEM, along with contributions from other UN sister agencies. The consultant will be responsible for creating a visually engaging and interactive timeline that allows users to click on milestones for detailed descriptions. This project requires adherence to UN Women’s branding guidelines while also encouraging creative approaches to the design and functionality of the timeline. The consultant will need to ensure that the final product is not only informative but also user-friendly and visually appealing, making it an effective tool for advocacy and education on women's peace and security issues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop an interactive PDF timeline that highlights key milestones related to the 25th anniversary of UN Security Council resolution 132
Collaborate with UN Women and other stakeholders to gather relevant information and milestones to be included in the timeline.
Ensure that the timeline adheres to UN Women’s branding guidelines while incorporating creative design elements.
Create clickable links within the PDF that direct users to detailed descriptions of each milestone in the annex or end notes.
Conduct revisions based on feedback from UN Women and other stakeholders to ensure the final product meets organizational standards and expectations.
Deliver the completed interactive PDF by the specified deadline in mid-October 2023.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in graphic design, particularly in creating interactive PDFs or similar digital content.
Strong understanding of branding and visual identity, especially in relation to UN Women or similar organizations.
Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
Familiarity with gender equality issues and the context of UN Security Council resolution 1325 is an advantage.
Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, communications, or a related field is required. A master’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant area is preferred. Additional certifications in digital design or multimedia production would be beneficial.
Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in graphic design or digital content creation is required. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the field of gender equality or human rights, is highly desirable. Proven track record of developing interactive content that engages users is essential.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in additional UN languages (such as French or Spanish) is considered an asset but not required.
Additional Notes: This position is a consultancy role with a specific focus on a short-term project. The consultant will work remotely and must be able to deliver the final product by mid-October 202
The role is part-time and may require flexible hours to accommodate collaboration with international stakeholders.
