Job Posting Organization:
SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid organization that has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters for over 40 years. The organization focuses on meeting vital needs such as access to clean water, food, and shelter. SI is particularly committed to combating diseases related to unsafe water, which is the leading cause of mortality worldwide. The organization operates in 26 countries with a total workforce of 3,200 individuals, including expatriates, national staff, headquarters employees, and a few volunteers. SI has been active in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) since 2001, addressing humanitarian needs and participating in the fight against epidemics. Job Overview:
The primary objective of the position is to support the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director, Field Coordinators, and base managers in managing security and humanitarian access. The Coordinator will participate in information collection, context analysis, and the establishment of appropriate procedures. Additionally, they will be involved in training and raising awareness among teams regarding security management and humanitarian access. The Coordinator will play a key role in crisis management related to security. The challenges of this position include ensuring that SI maintains its operational capacity and humanitarian access while optimizing security through contextual analysis, risk-adapted security management procedures, and incident management that does not adversely affect SI's operational presence or capacity in the area. The position is crucial for SI to remain a frontline actor in the DRC.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Coordinator will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Conducting contextual analysis to inform security management strategies.
  • Developing and implementing security management procedures tailored to identified risks.
  • Training and sensitizing teams on security management and humanitarian access.
  • Supporting field missions either remotely or in person, based on prioritization set with the Country Director.
  • Managing security incidents effectively to minimize impact on operations.
  • Maintaining communication with internal and external networks to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the security landscape.
  • Collaborating with local authorities and stakeholders to negotiate humanitarian access.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of security measures and making necessary adjustments.
  • Reporting on security issues and providing recommendations to senior management. 1
  • Ensuring compliance with SI's security policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:
  • A Master's degree related to the field of security or humanitarian work.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional field experience and/or coordination experience.
  • Experience in a role related to personnel and organizational security, risk assessment, security management, and security awareness training.
  • Prior experience in team management.
  • At least one experience in an emergency context.
  • A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector and in a similar position.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a Master's degree in a relevant field related to security or humanitarian assistance. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to manage security effectively in complex environments.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 3-4 years in the humanitarian sector. Experience in security management, risk assessment, and team leadership is crucial. Additionally, candidates should have at least one experience in emergency contexts, demonstrating their ability to operate under pressure and in challenging situations.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory. Proficiency in Swahili is considered an asset, and knowledge of English is also advantageous. The ability to communicate effectively in these languages is essential for coordinating with local teams and stakeholders.

  • The role is based in Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The salary is competitive, starting from EUR 2860 gross per month, which includes a base salary and a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly, along with a monthly per diem of USD 80
  • SI covers housing costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's home country and the duty station. The organization also provides a break system, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, with additional rest days for each month worked. Expatriates receive comprehensive health insurance covering medical expenses, including dental and optical care, as well as repatriation. Vaccination and necessary malaria treatment costs are reimbursed. Living conditions include individual rooms, communal spaces, and 24/7 electricity, with occasional outages. The organization emphasizes safety and security measures for all staff.
