Job Overview: The Senior Information Management Associate plays a critical role in the UNHCR's Data Transformation Strategy 2020-2025, which aims to position UNHCR as a leader in data and information management related to refugees and other persons of concern. This position involves coordinating, planning, and delivering data and information activities across various operational contexts. The Senior Associate will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that data management processes are effective, compliant with technical standards, and aligned with UNHCR's strategic objectives. The role requires a strong focus on operational data and analysis, supporting evidence-informed decision-making, and enhancing the quality of data through capacity building and monitoring.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate data and information management activities, ensuring effective communication of the status and importance of data.
Support the development and implementation of information management systems and tools.
Conduct data management activities, including surveys, data analysis, and GIS mapping.
Provide training and technical support to staff on data management methodologies and tools.
Ensure data quality through monitoring and feedback mechanisms.
Develop internal and external information management products, such as dashboards and infographics.
Analyze trends and provide recommendations based on data insights.
Support the identification and management of risks related to data and information management.
Perform other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in information management, data analysis, or a related field.
Proficiency in data management tools and software, including GIS applications and data visualization tools.
Strong analytical skills and experience in statistical analysis.
Knowledge of humanitarian assessment methodologies and data confidentiality principles.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Educational Background:
High School Diploma with 4 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
Field(s) of Education: Not applicable.
Relevant certifications in Business Intelligence, Data Management, Information Technology, or related fields are preferred.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience in information management or data analysis within humanitarian or development contexts. Experience with data sharing and management to support policy formulation and implementation is essential. Desirable experience includes knowledge of international protection frameworks and data collection in field situations.
Languages: Mandatory: Proficiency in English and the UN working language of the duty station (Ukrainian). Good to have: Knowledge of additional languages is a plus, particularly those relevant to the operational context.
