Job Overview: The position of Technical Specialist in Sociobiodiversity focuses on contributing to the national processes aimed at strengthening family farmers in Brazil, with the ultimate goal of poverty reduction and rural revitalization. The incumbent will be responsible for the elaboration of a Diagnosis of ATER (rural extension and technical advisory services) Calls for Sociobiodiversity for the period of 2019-2025, as well as developing an Operational Manual that guides the processes for monitoring, evaluation, and systematization of experiences linked to ATER calls and other transfer instruments. This role requires collaboration with various internal teams and stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of policies and programs that enhance the capacities of the national government and local family farmers.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Technical Specialist include holding meetings with internal teams of the General Coordination of Sociobiodiversity (CGSOCIOBIO), which consists of various coordinations focused on promoting sociobiodiversity. The specialist will conduct mapping and technical visits to gather information necessary for preparing contracted products, as well as perform research to raise subsidies for these products. The role also involves preparing studies and conducting technical visits to collect data from other ministries that manage and systematize information. The specialist will participate in meetings to present results to managers and coordinators of CGSOCIOBIO, collect data from Brazilian parliament systems, and support the organization of meetings with managers responsible for ATER calls. Additionally, the specialist will provide technical support at national and international events, such as seminars and workshops, and hold technical meetings with parliamentarians and managers to enhance the quality of analyses conducted.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in Applied Social Sciences, as recognized by the CAPES table of areas of knowledge. They should have a minimum of eight years of experience in research related to public policies aimed at family farming. A working knowledge of both English and Portuguese is required, and candidates must be nationals of Brazil or residents of the country with a valid work permit.
