Job Overview: The Senior Communications Officer for Internal Engagement at IFC will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering impactful communications that connect employees to the organization's mission, enhance engagement, and drive organizational priorities. This position is situated within the Internal Engagement team of IFC Communications, which is integral to ensuring that employees are informed, engaged, and inspired. The officer will work collaboratively with colleagues across IFC and the World Bank Group, providing strategic counsel and crafting compelling narratives that inspire action, foster collaboration, and support transformative change. Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Communications Officer will be responsible for leading the design, planning, and management of high-impact internal communications campaigns from concept to execution and post-campaign evaluation. This includes ensuring that campaigns are strategically timed, audience-focused, and coordinated across various channels to maximize engagement and reinforce key messages. The officer will develop and execute comprehensive communications strategies that encompass research and insights gathering, goal setting, audience segmentation, message development, multi-channel delivery, and impact measurement to support organizational initiatives and change management. The role also involves overseeing the creation and curation of high-quality, compelling content across channels, including the IFC intranet homepage and IFC Updates newsletter, ensuring consistency and clarity for diverse audiences. The officer will champion innovative formats, storytelling techniques, and visual design to enhance engagement and understanding of complex initiatives. Furthermore, the officer will direct the collection, analysis, and reporting of performance metrics related to internal communications activities, applying insights to optimize strategies and enhance reach and impact. The officer will contribute to the planning and delivery of internal engagement initiatives and events, ensuring they reinforce key messages and foster organizational culture. As a leader within the Internal Engagement team, the officer will act as deputy to the Head of Internal Engagement and represent the team in meetings and working groups as needed. Additionally, the officer will provide guidance and mentorship to communications colleagues, fostering a culture of excellence, creativity, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in communications, journalism, political science, international development, or related fields, along with a minimum of 8 years of experience in corporate communications. A demonstrated track record of leading successful, multi-channel internal communications campaigns from concept to delivery and evaluation is essential, with measurable impact on engagement and organizational outcomes. Candidates should have a strong ability to translate complex concepts and strategies into clear, compelling messages for diverse audiences. Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills are required, along with a portfolio that showcases versatility across formats and channels. Experience advising and collaborating closely with senior leaders, managing sensitive information with discretion and professionalism, is also necessary. Candidates should demonstrate proven leadership abilities, inspiring and guiding colleagues through mentorship and example, and possess proficiency in analyzing communications performance data to refine strategies and improve outcomes. A creative mindset with a strong visual sense and familiarity with modern digital and multimedia communications tools is important, as is experience working in an international, multicultural environment with sensitivity to cultural nuances.
