Job Overview:
The Associate Senior Information Management Officer will play a critical role within the World Bank Group, particularly in the Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) Vice Presidential Unit. This position is integral to the organization's mission of eradicating extreme poverty and enhancing shared prosperity through the effective use of information and technology. The officer will be responsible for leading the enterprise AI governance framework, ensuring that artificial intelligence is utilized responsibly, ethically, and in compliance with relevant regulations. This role requires a strategic mindset, as the officer will collaborate with various stakeholders across the organization to foster innovation while managing associated risks. The position also involves overseeing the development of policies and standards related to AI governance, ensuring that the organization remains at the forefront of best practices in data and AI management. The officer will be expected to contribute to the Bank's digital transformation efforts, supporting business units with trusted data and AI capabilities, and promoting a culture of responsible innovation throughout the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Associate Senior Information Management Officer include:
  • Developing and executing the enterprise AI governance strategy in alignment with corporate objectives and risk appetite.
  • Establishing AI principles, policies, and standards that promote ethical AI practices, transparency, and human oversight.
  • Leading the development of responsible AI policies and participating in AI ethics committees to ensure compliance with established guidelines.
  • Monitoring emerging AI regulations and translating them into actionable controls for the organization.
  • Defining standards across the AI lifecycle, including use case intake, risk classification, and ongoing monitoring of AI solutions.
  • Establishing guardrails for the use of generative AI and defining acceptable use policies.
  • Ensuring that governance practices are integrated into the delivery of AI solutions and providing advisory support to business units.
  • Defining key performance indicators (KPIs) and key risk indicators (KRIs) to measure the effectiveness of AI governance and developing reporting mechanisms for executive stakeholders.
  • Building and leading a multidisciplinary AI governance team, fostering a culture of transparency and accountability.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Associate Senior Information Management Officer position must possess a Master's degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a related field. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of progressive leadership experience in areas such as AI, data governance, model risk, compliance, or technology risk. A demonstrated ability to develop governance frameworks at an enterprise scale is essential, along with a deep understanding of the AI/ML lifecycle and the associated risks. Candidates should also have strong knowledge of the regulatory landscape impacting AI and the ability to balance risk mitigation with innovation enablement. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, ISO AI standards, and the EU AI Act, as well as relevant professional certifications such as Safe Agile, Data Governance, or AI governance certifications.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in a relevant field such as Information Technology, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree combined with significant relevant experience may be considered. The educational qualifications should reflect a strong foundation in data management, AI technologies, and governance frameworks, equipping the candidate with the necessary skills to navigate the complexities of AI governance within the organization.

Experience:
The position requires a substantial level of experience, specifically a minimum of 10 years in progressively responsible roles related to AI, data governance, compliance, or technology risk. Candidates should have a proven track record of leadership in these areas, demonstrating their ability to develop and implement governance frameworks that align with organizational goals. Experience in managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with various stakeholders is also essential, as the role involves significant interaction with executive leadership and other departments within the organization.

Languages:
