Job Overview:
The Communications and Outreach Associate position is part of the UNV Regional Office for the Arab States, focusing on strengthening the workforce through the integration of capacities aligned with corporate and regional strategic objectives. This role is particularly centered on communications and digital outreach, with a focus on Maghreb countries, including Tunisia, Morocco, Libya, and Algeria. The associate will support communication efforts, emphasizing content development, social media management, talent engagement, and event support. The position requires a proactive approach to enhance visibility and attract diverse talent while amplifying the impact of the Multi-Country Field Unit's work.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Contribution to the Planning, Implementation, and Reporting on MCFU Communications and Outreach Engagement: Support the design and implementation of the MCFU and RO communications and outreach strategy plan, aligned with regional and global communications strategies. Contribute to the development of the MCFU and the regional annual communication and outreach work-plans and timelines. Assist in preparing internal and external communications reports, highlighting key activities, results, and metrics. Monitor progress against communication indicators and provide data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Development of Communication Outputs: Draft and design engaging content for internal and external audiences, including social media cards and reels, calls for registration, editorial content, flyers, banners, presentations, and other visual materials. Ensure content is tailored to platform-specific formats and audience profiles while maintaining alignment with UNV branding and communication guidelines.
  • Management of MCFU Social Media Channels: Lead the day-to-day management of MCFU’s social media presence across assigned platforms. Develop and implement a posting calendar, ensuring regular and timely publication of content. Monitor engagement and performance metrics and adjust strategies accordingly. Respond to messages and comments, ensuring timely and respectful interaction with audiences. Stay informed of social media trends and recommend creative content ideas or tools.
  • Support the Organization of Onsite Activities and Events: Assist in planning and coordinating on-the-ground engagement and outreach events such as info sessions, talent fairs, volunteer drives, or campaign launches. Support the production of event materials and communication assets before, during, and after events. Capture and document key moments through photography, video, and live posting where applicable. Liaise with vendors and stakeholders as needed to ensure smooth execution.
  • Contribute to MCFU advocacy and talent outreach Engagement: Provide communications and logistical support to MCFU-led campaigns, advocacy efforts, or talent outreach drives. Support ad hoc communication tasks such as preparation of briefings, success stories, case studies, or donor visibility content. Perform any other duties related to communications and engagement as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a proven ability to create engaging content for diverse audiences. Familiarity with social media management and digital outreach strategies is essential. The candidate should demonstrate creativity and adaptability in developing communication materials and strategies. Proficiency in using design software and tools for content creation is highly desirable. Additionally, the candidate should have strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while meeting deadlines.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in relevant areas will be considered an asset. The educational background should reflect a strong foundation in communication principles and practices, with an emphasis on digital media and outreach strategies.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, or a related field. Experience working with international organizations or in a multicultural environment is highly preferred. Familiarity with volunteerism and development issues in the Arab States region will be considered an advantage. The candidate should demonstrate a track record of successful communication campaigns and outreach initiatives.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory, as these are the primary languages of communication within the organization and the region. Proficiency in French is considered a strong asset, as it enhances the ability to engage with a broader audience and collaborate with partners across the Maghreb region.

Additional Notes:
This position is a full-time volunteer role with a living allowance of approximately 2,350 TND per month. Additional benefits include relocation costs, a one-time entry lump-sum payment, comprehensive health coverage, and an exit allowance based on the duration of service. The role may require travel within the region to support various events and activities. The living conditions in Tunis are generally safe, with a moderate cost of living and access to essential services.
