Job Overview:
The National Consultant will be responsible for conducting a comprehensive country-focused analysis and research on drug-related illicit financial flows in Bangladesh. This role is crucial in understanding the connections between these financial flows and the financing of terrorism. The consultant will analyze existing data, engage with stakeholders, and provide insights that will inform policy recommendations. The assignment is expected to last for 25 working days, starting from August 1, 2025, and concluding on December 31, 202
  • The consultant will work closely with UNDP and other relevant entities to ensure that the research is thorough and impactful, contributing to national and international efforts to combat drug-related crimes and their financial implications.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct a detailed analysis of drug-related illicit financial flows in Bangladesh, including their sources, methods of transfer, and impacts on the economy and society.
  • Investigate the links between these financial flows and the financing of terrorism, providing a clear understanding of how drug money may be used to support terrorist activities.
  • Engage with government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to gather data and insights relevant to the research.
  • Prepare a comprehensive report detailing findings, analyses, and recommendations for policymakers.
  • Present findings to UNDP and other stakeholders, facilitating discussions on potential interventions and strategies to mitigate the identified issues.
  • Ensure that all research activities comply with ethical standards and UNDP guidelines.
  • Submit all deliverables in a timely manner, adhering to the project timeline and deadlines.

Required Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in economics, finance, criminology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in conducting research on financial crimes, particularly in the context of drug trafficking and terrorism financing.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and present findings clearly.
  • Familiarity with the legal and regulatory frameworks related to drug control and financial crimes in Bangladesh.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a relevant field such as economics, finance, criminology, or public policy. Experience:

Languages:
