Job Overview: The position involves serving as an expert for the preparation and moderation of an international investment conference aimed at implementing Tunisia's Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and organizing side events for Tunisia at COP 3
The expert will be responsible for facilitating discussions, ensuring effective communication among stakeholders, and moderating sessions to achieve the conference's objectives. This role requires a deep understanding of climate change policies, investment strategies, and the ability to engage with various stakeholders including government officials, private sector representatives, and civil society organizations. The mission is expected to take place from September 2025 to February 2026, with specific timelines to be agreed upon with relevant authorities. The expert will need to prepare thoroughly for the conference, ensuring that all necessary materials and agendas are in place, and will also be responsible for moderating discussions during the event to ensure that all voices are heard and that the conference objectives are met.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare and moderate the international investment conference, ensuring that all sessions are well-organized and run smoothly.
Collaborate with UNDP and other stakeholders to develop the agenda and materials for the conference.
Facilitate discussions among participants, ensuring that all viewpoints are considered and that the dialogue remains constructive.
Provide expert insights on investment strategies related to climate change and sustainable development.
Engage with government officials, private sector representatives, and civil society to gather input and foster collaboration.
Ensure that the outcomes of the conference are documented and communicated effectively to all stakeholders.
Address any logistical issues that may arise during the preparation and execution of the conference.
Follow up on action items and commitments made during the conference to ensure accountability and progress.
Required Qualifications:
Proven expertise in climate change policies, investment strategies, and sustainable development.
Strong facilitation and moderation skills, with experience in leading discussions at high-level conferences.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Knowledge of Tunisia's Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and relevant international climate agreements.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize complex information into clear and actionable recommendations.
Educational Background: A master's degree or higher in environmental science, international relations, public policy, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in climate change, sustainable development, or investment strategies would be an asset.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in climate change, sustainable development, or investment facilitation is required. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of UNDP or similar agencies, is highly desirable. Proven track record of successfully moderating high-level conferences or workshops is essential.
Languages: Fluency in both French and English is mandatory, as the conference will involve participants from various linguistic backgrounds. Knowledge of Arabic would be considered an asset, enhancing communication with local stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The contract duration for this position is from September 2025 to February 2026, with specific dates to be confirmed. This is a full-time position, and the expert will be expected to work closely with UNDP and other partners throughout the duration of the mission. The position may involve travel within Tunisia and potentially to other locations for related events. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and in line with UNDP's policies for individual contractors.
