Job Overview: The Pharmacy Assistant position is a critical role within FHI 360's health and nutrition programming in the Somali region, specifically in Filtu and Hargele. Under the supervision of a senior pharmaceutical officer, the pharmacy assistant will be responsible for managing the pharmaceutical warehouse and overseeing daily operations related to pharmaceutical and medical supplies. This includes receiving pharmaceuticals, ensuring proper storage according to established guidelines, and issuing supplies to health facilities while monitoring their utilization. The pharmacy assistant will maintain accurate records of all transactions and inventory, ensuring compliance with FHI 360 protocols. The role also involves traveling to health facilities for supportive supervision, assessing needs, and collecting data on pharmaceutical availability and consumption. The pharmacy assistant will work closely with the logistics team to ensure adherence to dispensing and distribution protocols, contributing to the overall improvement of the pharmaceutical supply chain management in health facilities.

Educational Background: An Associate degree in pharmacy is required for this position. Candidates must have current, active professional registration as a licensed pharmacist in Ethiopia, with no restrictions on their practice.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience working as a pharmacist is required. Previous experience with donor-funded programs, particularly those funded by USAID/BHA, is advantageous. Experience working with humanitarian organizations is also beneficial. Candidates must be willing to travel to program implementation sites and stay in the field as needed.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, and excellent communication skills in the local language are also required. A working knowledge of English is considered a good to have.
