Job Overview: The Communication internship in Sustainable Energy Project Development is designed for individuals who are passionate about renewable energy and its role in sustainable development. Interns will be integrated into the Project Development Programme (PDP) team, which operates at the intersection of development cooperation and private-sector engagement. The PDP focuses on pre-developing climate-friendly energy projects in selected developing countries, providing free and neutral advice to local companies, and facilitating connections with solution providers. Interns will have the opportunity to contribute to impactful projects that promote economic development and climate change mitigation while gaining valuable experience in project management, communication, and research.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will support the project team with a variety of tasks, including:
Content Creation & Reference Projects: Assisting in the creation of impact content, preparing success stories, collecting data and visuals for reference projects, managing an image archive, and contributing to project displays and PowerPoint presentations.
Formal Quality Check for Studies and Analyses: Supporting the final quality control of studies and sector analyses, ensuring compliance with methodological and formatting standards, and preparing materials for publication and marketing.
Political, Legal Research & Country Profiles: Conducting research on political and legal frameworks relevant to partner countries, maintaining detailed country profiles, and capturing key data and insights.
Internal Communication: Maintaining project intranet pages, assisting with intranet news, and supporting the establishment of communication guidelines.
Visual & Content Streamlining: Updating materials, improving layouts and visuals, ensuring consistency across formats, and providing feedback for design improvements.
Editorial Planning & Monitoring: Assisting with editorial scheduling, ensuring deadlines are met, and supporting communication monitoring and reporting.
General Project Management Support: Contributing to the day-to-day management of the project by helping with planning, monitoring, and coordinating activities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should be currently studying in fields such as social science, communication science, natural science, engineering, or economics. Initial experience in renewable energies or energy efficiency is required. A good overview of renewable energy technologies and their business models is essential, along with familiarity with political approaches to promote renewable energies. Knowledge in energy efficiency, decentralized electrification, and industrial self-consumption is desirable. Strong communication skills, particularly in organizing and coordinating events, are necessary, along with very good Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should be currently enrolled as a student or have graduated no longer than six months prior to the start of the internship. A background in social science, communication science, natural science, engineering, or economics is preferred, with a focus on renewable energy or energy efficiency.
Experience: Candidates should have initial experience in the field of renewable energies and/or energy efficiency. This could include internships, academic projects, or relevant coursework that demonstrates an understanding of the industry and its challenges.
Languages: Very good German and English skills at language level C1 are mandatory for internal and external communication. Knowledge of French and/or Spanish at language level C1 is considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
