Job Overview: The position focuses on integrating gender dimensions into the processes of the National Development Plan (PNDB) in Cuba. The individual contractor will be expected to analyze existing policies and frameworks, provide recommendations for gender-responsive strategies, and collaborate with various stakeholders to implement these strategies effectively. The contractor will work closely with UNDP and local partners to ensure that gender perspectives are not only included but prioritized in development initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a comprehensive analysis of the current integration of gender dimensions in the PNDB processes.
Develop and propose actionable recommendations for enhancing gender responsiveness in the development planning and implementation phases.
Facilitate workshops and training sessions for stakeholders to raise awareness and build capacity on gender issues.
Collaborate with government agencies, civil society organizations, and other partners to promote gender equality in development initiatives.
Monitor and evaluate the implementation of gender-responsive strategies and report on progress.
Prepare detailed reports and presentations on findings and recommendations for UNDP and stakeholders.
Engage in continuous dialogue with stakeholders to ensure ongoing commitment to gender integration in development processes.
Strong understanding of the socio-economic and political landscape in Cuba, particularly regarding gender issues.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, NGOs, and community groups.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in Spanish and English.
Familiarity with UNDP policies and procedures is an advantage.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in gender analysis or gender mainstreaming will be considered an asset.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in gender analysis, gender mainstreaming, or related fields is required. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of development projects, is highly desirable. Proven track record of successfully implementing gender-responsive initiatives is essential.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the position requires extensive communication with local stakeholders. Proficiency in English is also required to engage with international partners and for reporting purposes. Knowledge of other languages is a plus but not mandatory.
Additional Notes: The contract duration for this position is 75 days from the signing of the contract, with 50 effective working days. This is a consultancy role, and the contractor will be expected to submit proposals directly through the UNDP supplier portal. The position is open to both national and international candidates, and applicants are encouraged to register on the supplier portal if they have not done so previously. Compensation and benefits will be discussed during the negotiation phase.
