Job Posting Organization:
The United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Rio de Janeiro was established in 1947 as the first UN Information Centre in Latin America and the Caribbean. Its mission is to disseminate up-to-date information about the United Nations to Brazilian audiences and provide opportunities for participation, dialogue, and engagement with the UN's work. UNIC Rio operates under the Information Centres Service, Campaigns and Country Operations Division, Department of Global Communications (DGC).

Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position at UNIC Rio de Janeiro is designed to support the Digital Communications Assistant and the Officer-in-Charge in various digital communication and event management tasks. The intern will be involved in the development of engaging digital assets for UN Brazil's social media accounts, including creating cards, videos, and explainers. The role also includes editing and producing short video content for social media and websites, ensuring that subtitles are prepared and embedded in both English and Portuguese. Additionally, the intern will assist in the development of digital campaigns that cover UN priorities such as climate change, human rights, and information integrity. This will involve drafting copies and helping to organize schedules for these campaigns. The intern will also conduct research on emerging opportunities to enhance UN Brazil's digital presence and engagement on social media platforms. Furthermore, the intern will support the organization of events, press conferences, campaigns, and public outreach activities, as well as assist in mapping potential partners and sponsors in media and civil society, updating mailing lists, and maintaining relationships with suppliers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Supporting digital strategy implementation: • Assist in the development of engaging digital assets for the UN Brazil (@onubrasil) social media accounts, including cards, videos, and explainers. • Edit and produce short video content for social media and websites, including preparing and embedding subtitles in English and Portuguese. • Assist in the development of digital campaigns covering UN priorities, such as climate change, human rights, and information integrity, by drafting copies and helping organize schedules. • Assist in research on emerging opportunities to increase UN Brazil’s digital presence and engagement on social media platforms. 2) Supporting events management and organization: • Assist in organizing events, press conferences, campaigns, and public outreach activities. • Support outreach efforts with partners and the UN System in Brazil. • Assist in mapping potential partners and sponsors in media and civil society. • Support in updating and expanding existing mailing lists. • Support relationships with suppliers.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: a. Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, b. Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advanced coursework, or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.

Educational Background:
Applicants must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme or be in the final academic year of a first university degree programme. This means that candidates should have at least a bachelor's degree or equivalent, and those pursuing or having completed a master's degree are also eligible.

Experience:
No prior working experience is required for this internship position. However, any relevant training, education, or advanced coursework that can contribute to the UN's mission during the internship is beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written Portuguese is required, along with an intermediate level of English. While English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat, proficiency in Portuguese is essential for this role.

The internship position is located at the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Rio de Janeiro and is designed to be remote and part-time. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations, and all costs related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or their sponsoring institutions.
