Job Overview: The Programme Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting the Gender Responsive Inclusive Governance (GRIG) Thematic Area by managing specific components of projects and programs in collaboration with local women's rights organizations and government entities. The position involves day-to-day management of assigned project components, ensuring that they meet the specified results and quality standards within time and cost constraints. The Programme Analyst will also be responsible for monitoring and reporting on project outcomes, contributing to donor reports, and supporting capacity building initiatives for UN Women partners. This role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders, including government and civil society organizations, to promote gender equality and women's empowerment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day operations of assigned project components, ensuring effective collaboration with local women's rights organizations and government units.
Monitor and report on project outcomes using a result-based management approach.
Ensure that project components produce results as specified in project documents, adhering to quality standards and budget constraints.
Lead the development of terms of reference (ToR) and manage the selection of partners in compliance with UN Women's regulations.
Provide capacity building support to UN Women partners and implement capacity strengthening initiatives.
Support resource mobilization efforts by developing concept notes and participating in relevant discussions.
Contribute to the development of knowledge products and policy recommendations related to GRIG.
Required Qualifications:
Strong knowledge and experience in program/project management, implementation, monitoring, and reporting from a result-based management perspective.
Familiarity with issues related to gender responsive inclusive governance, social norm change, and women's leadership.
Ability to engage with government and civil society partners, particularly women's rights organizations.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to advocate for policy changes.
Excellent writing skills for producing briefings and reports.
Educational Background: A Master's degree or equivalent in gender studies, international relations, international development, sociology, law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law, or other relevant social science fields is required. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in managing, monitoring, and reporting on governance-related programs/projects with a focus on gender, inclusion, and women's leadership. Experience in building partnerships with governments, donors, and civil society organizations is essential. Familiarity with writing quality donor reports using a result-based management approach is an added advantage. Experience working with the UN is also beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in English and Nepali is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish) is desirable.
