Job Overview: The Intern position within the UNV Information and Communications Technology Unit (ICTU) in Bonn, Germany, is designed to support the unit under the guidance of the ICTS Infrastructure Team Leader. The intern will play a crucial role in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) by engaging with team members and business units to understand workflow procedures. Additionally, the intern will assist in retiring legacy systems by interviewing stakeholders who utilize these systems. Participation in team meetings to compile action points is also expected. The intern will support various activities within the ICT Unit, including updating the workplan deliveries, providing training sessions and webinars, conducting surveys to gather feedback from UNV staff and cost-recovery partners, leading asset disposal exercises, and performing tier one helpdesk support as needed. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into the operational activities of UNV and the broader context of volunteerism's impact on peace and development.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:

Required Qualifications: Candidates applying for the internship must meet one of the following criteria:
Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree program (such as a master’s program or higher).
Be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (such as a bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in the previous points) and must start the internship within one year of graduation if selected.
Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program and undertake the internship as part of this program. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in development cooperation and the work of the United Nations Volunteers programme. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required, along with proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of Visio and other design applications is considered an asset. Experience in volunteering and familiarity with developing countries are also desirable qualifications.
Educational Background: Applicants must have a relevant educational background that aligns with the internship requirements. This includes being enrolled in a postgraduate degree program, being in the final year of a bachelor's degree program, or having recently graduated with a university degree. Candidates who are part of a postgraduate professional traineeship program and are undertaking the internship as part of this program are also eligible. Experience: The level of experience required for this internship is relatively flexible, as it is primarily aimed at students or recent graduates. Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary working language of the UNV programme. Knowledge of other official UN languages is considered desirable and may enhance a candidate's application, particularly if it aligns with the diverse linguistic needs of the organization.
Additional Notes: The internship will provide a monthly stipend in accordance with the provisions of the UNDP Internship policy, which applicants should familiarize themselves with before signing the UNDP Internship Agreement Form. If an intern is financially supported by an institution, government, or third party, UNDP will pay the intern the difference between the external financial support and the applicable UNDP stipend, subject to the rules of the supporting entity. It is important to note that UNDP does not cover medical and life insurance for interns, nor does it assume responsibility for costs arising from accidents or illnesses incurred during the internship. All expenses related to the internship are the responsibility of the intern or their sponsoring entity.
