Job Overview: The Online Volunteer position focuses on graphic design for three reports that are part of FAO Iraq’s efforts to strengthen climate resilience and promote gender-responsive adaptation in agriculture. The selected volunteers will work under the guidance of the International Communications Specialist and collaborate closely with the communications team. The role involves collecting information on the reports' background, including the target audience, design style, and branding guidelines. Volunteers will create draft designs based on these requirements, engage in discussions with the communications team, and develop the final designs according to agreed-upon specifications. The final deliverables will include original design files in Adobe Illustrator or Adobe InDesign, as well as final PDFs. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to FAO Iraq's mission while gaining insights into how graphic design supports climate adaptation efforts and women's empowerment in agriculture.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collect background information on the reports, including target audience, design style, and branding guidelines.
Create draft designs based on the collected information and present them to the communications team for feedback.
Develop the final designs according to the agreed-upon requirements and FAO's corporate design guidelines.
Deliver the final original design files in Adobe Illustrator or Adobe InDesign format, along with the final PDF versions of the reports.
Collaborate with the communications team to ensure that the designs effectively communicate the intended messages and align with FAO's visual identity.
Participate in discussions and meetings with the communications team to refine design concepts and ensure alignment with project goals.
Build connections with team members and gain insights into the role of graphic design in supporting climate adaptation and women's empowerment initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
Proficiency in graphic design software, particularly Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign.
Strong understanding of design principles, typography, and layout.
Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members.
Familiarity with corporate design guidelines and branding practices.
A creative mindset with the ability to translate complex information into visually appealing designs.
Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Previous experience in graphic design, particularly in a non-profit or international development context, is an advantage.
