Job Overview: The National Individual Consultant for ICT Support will play a crucial role in providing high-quality ICT services to the UNFPA Moldova Country Office. This position involves maintaining and supporting hardware and software systems for the office's 50 staff members. The consultant will work closely with the Regional ICT Associate and HQ ITSO to enhance the ICT infrastructure, ensuring compliance with corporate ICT standards. The consultant's responsibilities will include troubleshooting operational IT issues, providing on-site and remote support, and assisting in the organization of events requiring IT support. The consultant will also be responsible for monitoring the effective functioning of ICT hardware and software, ensuring timely updates and maintenance, and supporting network administration and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security measures. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering high-quality ICT support to enhance the office's operational efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be tasked with a variety of duties, including:
Providing daily on-site IT support for software and hardware usage, as well as remote support through platforms like Google Meet and Zoom.
Troubleshooting operational IT problems and assisting users in finding solutions.
Assisting in the preparation of specifications for purchasing computer equipment and expendable materials.
Monitoring the use of ICT equipment and organizing periodic maintenance and repairs.
Ensuring the installation of corporate operating systems and in-house software, along with timely upgrades.
Supporting users in data backup and restoration, as well as virus detection and prevention.
Responding to network access needs and implementing IT security measures.
Maintaining an up-to-date inventory of software and hardware. 1
Contributing to the development of the ICT Disaster Recovery Plan and providing other ICT support as required by the office.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following qualifications:
Completed Secondary Level Education is required; a University Degree in Computer Science is desirable.
A minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience in end-user support, including management of hardware and software platforms.
Proficiency in Microsoft Operating systems (Windows 10 and 11) and office software applications.
Experience in network administration, including TCP/IP routing and switching, and knowledge of information and telecommunications systems.
Familiarity with enterprise network equipment support and configuration is a strong asset.
Experience working with Google Workspace and international organizations will be beneficial.
Educational Background: Candidates must have completed Secondary Level Education, with a University Degree in Computer Science being desirable. This educational background is essential for understanding the technical requirements of the position and effectively supporting the ICT needs of the UNFPA Moldova Country Office.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience in the field of ICT support, specifically in end-user support and management of hardware and software platforms. Candidates should have a proven track record of troubleshooting IT issues and providing effective solutions in a professional environment. Experience with international organizations is considered an asset, as it demonstrates the ability to work in diverse and dynamic settings.
Languages: Fluency in English and Russian is mandatory, while proficiency in Romanian is required. Additionally, knowledge of one or more languages relevant to Moldova, such as Bulgarian, Gagauzian, Romani, Ukrainian, or sign language, would be advantageous and enhance communication within the local context.
Additional Notes: The consultancy assignment is set to last from June 9, 2025, to December 31, 2025, with an estimated total of up to 70 full working days, averaging up to 10 working days per month. The consultant will be expected to deliver monthly reports detailing their activities and progress. Payment will be conducted on a monthly basis, contingent upon the submission and approval of the monthly narrative report and timesheet. The consultant's performance will be evaluated based on criteria such as timeliness, responsiveness, initiative, communication, accuracy, and quality of deliverables. Additionally, before signing the contract, the consultant must complete mandatory courses on Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, Fraud and Corruption Awareness and Prevention, and BSAFE Security Training.
