Job Overview: The Climate Research Analyst position at WRI Indonesia is designed to support the climate team by providing high-quality research and in-depth policy analysis. The role involves developing and disseminating rigorous research products tailored to meet the information and data needs of targeted audiences, including policymakers, stakeholders, and the broader public. The Climate Research Analyst will also contribute to project management and stakeholder engagement activities, coordinating with internal and external partners and supporting the planning and implementation of climate-related initiatives. Reporting to the Climate Action Senior Lead, the analyst will work collaboratively with other relevant teams at WRI Indonesia and the global office. The position is based in Jakarta, offering an office-flex working arrangement with potential travel when necessary. Duties and Responsibilities: The Climate Research Analyst will engage in various responsibilities, primarily focusing on research (60% of the role), project management (30%), and stakeholder engagement (10%). In the research domain, the analyst will develop robust and unbiased research and knowledge products aimed at informing target audiences about climate change issues, enhancing climate ambitions, and outlining pathways to net zero at both national and subnational levels. This includes providing analysis on climate science and the impacts of climate change, as well as mitigation and adaptation efforts. The analyst will contribute to designing Indonesia's climate targets and long-term strategies, ensuring alignment with national development planning and the National Determined Contributions (NDC). They will support technical analysis, data collection, and the writing process for research and policy notes, while also preparing materials such as concept notes and presentations. In project management, the analyst will assist in organizing meetings, workshops, and dissemination activities, preparing relevant materials, and supporting the development of funding proposals and project reports. For stakeholder engagement, the analyst will communicate research findings effectively, participate in engagement activities, and strengthen relationships with donors and policymakers by providing accurate data and information.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, climate, meteorology, statistics, or other relevant fields. A minimum of three years of relevant experience in climate and/or environmental research activities or projects is required. The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to conduct desk research, fact-check, write reports, and review written products with oversight from a manager. They should also be capable of supporting discrete elements of research projects, such as systematically reviewing literature, collecting and analyzing data, and visualizing quantitative data. Effective communication skills for presenting research approaches and findings to both internal and external audiences are essential, along with critical thinking and a well-structured research methodology. Candidates should be highly motivated, proactive, and possess excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and across various sectors. Willingness to travel when necessary and legal authorization to work in Indonesia are also required.

Additional Notes: The initial contract period for this position extends up to 31 December 2025, with the possibility of extension based on individual performance evaluations, project needs, and budget availability. The organization offers a consultant rate commensurate with experience and skills, along with travel insurance for domestic and international travel duties assigned by WRI Indonesia.
