Job Overview: The Financial Accounting Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the Accounting and Finance Unit of the FHI 360 Indonesia office, specifically for the EPIC Global Healthsecurity" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Project. The incumbent will be responsible for conducting various financial accounting duties, ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported. This position requires a proactive approach to managing financial documentation and ensuring compliance with organizational policies. The officer will also assist in other projects as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to contribute to the broader goals of the organization. The role demands a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, while also managing individual responsibilities effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Financial Accounting Officer will be tasked with preparing payment vouchers for processing vendor invoices, travel expense reports, and other program-related payments. The officer will ensure that all supporting documentation is complete and that entries are accurate for financial reporting. Responsibilities also include preparing advance requests for workshops, travel, and subawards, monitoring advances, and performing timely reconciliations in accordance with Country Office policies. Monthly financial close reports, including bank reconciliations, must be prepared and submitted to Corporate Accounting. The officer will oversee the timely recording of all financial transactions into the accounting system, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Additionally, the officer will reconcile subrecipient advances and expenses, manage petty cash, and maintain updated financial files. The role also involves reviewing project expenses and preparing documentation for VAT-exemption requests, as well as updating and maintaining the internal control system for VAT-related transactions. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an NGO environment. Proficiency in spreadsheet software is required, and prior experience working on US Government programs and within an international NGO is preferred. Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP software is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work independently while paying close attention to detail. Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English are essential, and proficiency in Bahasa Indonesian is also required. Tax Brevet A and B certifications will be considered an advantage.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting is mandatory for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding financial principles and practices, which are critical for the role's responsibilities in financial accounting and reporting.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the financial sector, specifically within a non-governmental organization (NGO) context. This experience should include familiarity with financial accounting practices, compliance with donor regulations, and the ability to manage financial documentation effectively. Experience with US Government programs is highly desirable, as it indicates an understanding of the specific financial reporting and compliance requirements associated with such funding.
Languages: Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position. Candidates must also be proficient in Bahasa Indonesian, as effective communication in both languages is essential for interacting with stakeholders and managing financial documentation. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not required.
