Job Overview: The Advocacy and intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Communications Intern position at UN Women is designed to provide an opportunity for individuals to learn and contribute to the formulation and implementation of communications and advocacy strategies aimed at enhancing the visibility and impact of UN Women in Indonesia. The intern will engage with various stakeholders, including the media and the public, to raise awareness about gender equality and women's empowerment (GEWE) issues. This role will involve working closely with the communications team to develop materials and support various communication activities such as campaigns, events, and media outreach. The internship will also provide valuable insights into the challenges and efforts surrounding gender equality in Indonesia, as well as the strategies employed by UN Women to influence public perception and policy.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks within the advocacy and communications team. These include supporting the development of communication materials such as presentations, infographics, and templates. The intern will assist in organizing communications activities, including campaigns, events, and media briefings. They will also help identify and create key external communication materials, such as web articles, briefs, fact sheets, and videos. Additionally, the intern will engage in media outreach, monitor media mentions of UN Women, and maintain a library of reference materials and digital assets. In terms of social media, the intern will draft and schedule content, research relevant articles, and assist in creating an editorial calendar. They will also monitor social media channels, engage with audiences, and support the production of visual assets for social media campaigns. General administrative tasks and other duties as assigned by the supervisor will also be part of the role.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Advocacy and Communications Intern position should possess a strong understanding of communication strategies and advocacy work, particularly in relation to gender equality and women's empowerment. They should demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and have a good grasp of social media platforms and outreach strategies. The ability to create and present information in a clear and engaging manner is essential, as is a results-driven approach to meeting targets and deadlines. Familiarity with graphic design, multimedia production, and the local media landscape will be advantageous. The intern should also exhibit strong research and analytical skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate for this internship should be pursuing university studies in disciplines such as communications, journalism, public relations, social sciences, or other relevant fields. Candidates must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); have graduated with a university degree within the last two years; or be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program that requires the internship as part of the program.
Experience: While prior experience is not strictly required, candidates should ideally have some exposure to communications, advocacy, or related fields.
