Job Overview:
The BioInnovation Africa (BIA) project aims to foster African-European business partnerships that promote biodiversity-based value chains adhering to high ethical, social, and environmental standards. This includes equitable benefit-sharing and sustainable use of Africa’s genetic resources. The project enhances capacities in partner countries regarding biodiversity valorization, business development, and ABS negotiation skills. Interns will gain valuable insights into the implementation of a globally operating project, contributing to various aspects of project management and communication.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As an intern for the BioInnovation Africa project, your responsibilities will include disseminating a capacity development package, which involves supporting the application of training materials, establishing a network of trainers, and integrating into the digital infrastructure of partner institutions. You will also engage in project communication and public relations by drafting articles to report on project activities, maintaining the project website, and managing social media content. Additionally, you will contribute to project monitoring, documentation, reporting, and evaluation, coordinating data collection for project evaluations. Supporting collaboration with private sector partners will also be part of your role, which includes compiling lessons learned and coordinating annual partnership exchanges. Organizing internal meetings, webinars, and events for project partners will be another key responsibility.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be studying in the fourth semester or higher in fields such as agricultural, biological, geographical, economic, political, or social sciences, or related disciplines. A high technical affinity and proficiency in common MS Office programs (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) are essential. Experience with Typo-3 for website content management or Moodle (Learning Management System) is considered an asset. A strong interest in development policy, particularly in biodiversity conservation and sustainable use, is required. Candidates should demonstrate reliability, motivation, and commitment, and have some experience in an African country or in the field of international cooperation.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to be enrolled as students in their fourth semester or higher in relevant fields such as agricultural, biological, geographical, economic, political, or social sciences. Alternatively, candidates who have graduated no longer than six months prior to the start of the internship are also eligible to apply.

Experience:
Interns should have some prior experience, preferably in an African country or in the field of international cooperation. This experience will help them adapt quickly to the tasks and responsibilities associated with the internship.

Languages:
Fluency in English and German is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in French is considered a clear asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a multilingual environment.
