Job Overview:
The Humanitarian Access & Risk Manager will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of safety, access, and risk management systems across Relief International's operations in Sudan. This role is critical in ensuring that the organization can operate safely and effectively in a challenging environment. The manager will focus on developing safety protocols, access strategies, and conducting risk analyses to protect staff and enable program delivery. Working closely with the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director and Senior Management Team, the manager will guide security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security decisions, build staff capacity, and ensure consistent practices across field offices. The position requires a proactive approach to managing safety and access, with an emphasis on community engagement and collaboration with various stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Humanitarian Access & Risk Manager will serve as the lead technical expert on safety, risk, and access matters for Relief International's operations in Sudan. Key responsibilities include developing and enforcing compliance with global and field-level safety and risk management standards, conducting strategic analysis and risk assessments, and ensuring coordination across departments and locations. The manager will design and maintain context-relevant safety systems, develop evacuation and contingency plans, and contribute to the safety and access components of the Sudan strategy. Regular political and conflict analysis will be conducted, along with the production of incident reports and risk assessments. The manager will also build the capacity of national staff through training and mentorship, conduct biannual safety risk assessments, and represent Relief International in safety/access coordination forums.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a master's degree with demonstrated experience in safety and access management within the humanitarian sector. A minimum of six years of experience in a similar role within NGOs, UN agencies, or international organizations in high-risk settings is required, with specific experience in Sudan being essential. Proven abilities in crisis management and safety & access management in unstable environments are necessary, along with strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are crucial, as well as proficiency in MS Office and experience in delivering training. Candidates should also have experience in multi-cultural environments and conducting assessments, and must be fit to travel.

Educational Background:
The position requires a minimum of a master's degree in a relevant field, such as international relations, security studies, or humanitarian assistance. This educational background should be complemented by practical experience in safety and access management, particularly in humanitarian contexts.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least six years of relevant experience in safety and access management roles, particularly in high-risk environments. Experience working in Sudan or similar contexts is essential, as is a proven track record of managing safety protocols and crisis situations effectively. Candidates should demonstrate their ability to work independently and manage multiple complex tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the operational context may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with local communities and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This position is full-time and may require travel to various operational sites within Sudan.
