Job Overview:
The Project Specialist (Bahrain Global Award) is responsible for the implementation of the Bahrain Global Award workplan, which is developed in collaboration with the Supreme Council for Women. This role involves close cooperation with the Regional Office for the Arab States Communications Team and Operations Team to ensure the successful execution of the workplan for 2025-202
  • The Project Specialist will design and implement a comprehensive communications plan for the Global Award, facilitate media coverage, maintain the award's website, and create engaging content for social media to raise awareness about the application process. Additionally, the role requires tracking application trends, proposing actions to increase applications, and preparing briefings and presentations regarding the award's progress. The Project Specialist will also oversee the selection process, ensuring transparency and quality assurance, and manage the budget in collaboration with UN Women’s Finance and Administration Teams.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement the communications plan for the Bahrain Global Award, ensuring effective outreach and engagement.
  • Facilitate media coverage of the award application process and results, enhancing visibility and awareness.
  • Maintain and update content for the Global Award website, ensuring it is informative and user-friendly.
  • Draft compelling social media and website content to promote the award and its objectives, leveraging UN Women’s networks.
  • Create multimedia content, including videos and webinars, to engage stakeholders and raise awareness.
  • Track application numbers and trends regularly, proposing strategies to increase applications in specific categories or regions.
  • Prepare briefings, presentations, and summaries regarding the application process and review outcomes.
  • Conduct research to strengthen institutional knowledge of similar international awards and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage the filtration and review process of applications, ensuring adherence to agreed criteria. 1
  • Prepare documentation for the International Jury to support their deliberation and selection of winners. 1
  • Draft results-based reports on project progress and manage the budget effectively, providing regular updates.

Required Qualifications:
  • A Master's degree in business administration, communications, marketing, development, gender studies, or a related field is required.
  • A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.
  • At least five years of progressively responsible work experience in communications and donor relations is essential.
  • Experience in budget management and project management is desirable.
  • Proven experience in the Gulf Cooperation Council sub-region context is required.
  • Experience in strategic partnerships and event planning is also desirable.
  • Proficiency in using computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) is necessary, along with experience in web-based management systems.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in a relevant field such as business administration, communications, marketing, development, or gender studies. Alternatively, a first-level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of a Master's degree.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of progressively responsible work experience in communications and donor relations. Candidates should have experience in budget management and project management, particularly within the Gulf Cooperation Council sub-region. Experience in strategic partnerships and event planning is also beneficial, along with proficiency in using modern web-based ERP systems, preferably Oracle Cloud.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
