Job Overview: The (Senior) Applications & Technology Architect position at the EIB is a pivotal role within the Information Systems Directorate, specifically in the Enterprise Architecture Unit. This full-time position requires a strong presence in the Luxembourg headquarters and is designed for individuals who are passionate about designing high-level application architectures that empower businesses. The architect will be responsible for defining and managing the application and technology architecture, planning the structure of new systems, overseeing their implementation, and collaborating with key stakeholders. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the (Senior) Applications & Technology Architect include leading the application and technology architecture practice, establishing cutting-edge principles, standards, and guidelines. The architect will work closely with solution architects and delivery teams to design innovative solutions that meet the needs of the organization. Responsibilities also include maintaining the architectural body of knowledge by documenting architectural designs, managing initiatives related to architecture, and ensuring alignment with market standards and best practices. The architect will transform business needs into technological solutions, fostering collaboration with senior leaders and enhancing the organization's journey from aspiration to reality. Additionally, the architect will focus on optimizing the application and technology landscape, turning opportunities into innovations, and ensuring a unified and coherent ecosystem across various layers of the organization.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the (Senior) Applications & Technology Architect position must possess a university degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, equivalent to at least a Bachelor's degree. A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in roles such as Enterprise Architect, Technology Architect, or Application Architect is required, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex application projects. In-depth knowledge of application architecture principles, design patterns, and integration techniques is essential, along with expertise in multiple technology stacks, languages, and frameworks commonly used in application development. Candidates should also have a solid understanding of data architecture, including database design, data modeling, and data integration, as well as experience in designing solutions that encompass application, integration, data, and business layers, preferably in a cloud environment.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline. The degree should be equivalent to at least a Bachelor's level, ensuring that candidates have a solid foundation in the technical aspects of application and technology architecture.
Experience: The position requires at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in roles related to enterprise, technology, or application architecture. Candidates should have a history of successfully delivering complex application projects, demonstrating their ability to navigate the challenges associated with architectural design and implementation.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, and a good command of French is also required, as both languages are official working languages of the EIB. Knowledge of other EU languages would be considered an advantage. Proficiency is understood to mean the attainment of level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).
