Job Overview:
The Reporting and Communication Officer for the Burkina Faso/Mali mission will be based in Ouagadougou. The primary responsibilities include launching, monitoring, and drafting various contractual and non-contractual reports under the supervision of the Grants Manager. The officer will also collect and develop communication materials to enhance the visibility of SI's actions in Burkina Faso and Mali. Specific challenges include addressing the recent merger of the Burkina Faso and Mali missions and enhancing the capacity of teams in grants and communication aspects, as well as ensuring accountability to donors through the production of high-quality reports and communication materials. The first 2-3 months will focus on coordinating and producing quality contractual and non-contractual reports for various donors, as well as developing communication materials such as newsletters and social media posts to increase visibility for SI's actions in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Reporting and Communication Officer will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Launching, monitoring, and drafting various reports, including interim and final reports for donors such as AFD, AAP CIAA, CDCS, DG-ECHO, FHRAOC, and BHA.
  • Collecting and developing communication materials to enhance the visibility of SI's actions in Burkina Faso and Mali.
  • Developing the communication plan for 2026 for SI Burkina Faso/Mali.
  • Coordinating with the Grants Manager to ensure compliance with donor requirements and deadlines.
  • Engaging with local partners and stakeholders to gather information and insights for reporting and communication purposes.
  • Ensuring that all reports and communication materials are of high quality and meet the standards set by SI and its donors.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:
  • A minimum of a BAC+4 degree in international relations, development and humanitarian action, political science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a similar position within the humanitarian sector.
  • Proven experience in coordinating the drafting and development of project reports.
  • Experience in collecting and producing communication materials.
  • Strong technical skills in report writing and communication strategies.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a minimum educational background of a BAC+4 degree in relevant fields such as international relations, humanitarian action, or political science. Equivalent experience may also be considered.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with a focus on report writing and communication. Experience in coordinating project reports and communication materials is essential, along with a minimum of 1 year in a similar role.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, while proficiency in English is considered an asset. Strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages are essential for this position.

Additional Notes:
The position is a salaried role with a salary starting from EUR 2,035 gross per month, which includes a base salary of EUR 1,850 plus a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Additionally, there is a monthly per diem of USD 55
  • SI covers housing costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's home country and the duty station. A break system is in place, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, with an additional day of rest for each month worked. Expatriates receive comprehensive health insurance covering medical expenses, including dental and optical care, as well as repatriation. Vaccination and malaria treatment costs are reimbursed. Living conditions in Ouagadougou are pleasant, with a vibrant cultural scene and various dining options. Expatriates are not permitted to drive personal vehicles; instead, SI provides drivers for transportation. The city has good telecommunications and internet coverage, and security measures are in place, including a curfew in certain areas. SI provides shared accommodation with access to water, electricity, and internet.
