Job Overview: The Finance Manager position at NRC is a critical role aimed at overseeing the financial operations of the organization in Burkina Faso. The successful candidate will lead a dynamic finance team and will be responsible for strategic financial planning, management, and reporting across all programs. This role is essential for ensuring the financial sustainability and integrity of NRC's operations, which includes managing resources effectively, providing accurate financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and donor requirements. The Finance Manager will work closely with global operational departments to support NRC's mission and will play a key role in the stewardship of organizational assets, maximizing resource utilization, and ensuring accountability to stakeholders. The position requires a finance professional who can support innovative teams and contribute to the overall strategic objectives of NRC in the country.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Finance Manager will be responsible for a variety of tasks including:
Budgeting and Reporting: Regularly updating the Master Budget to reflect current funding needs, preparing budgets for new proposals while adhering to donor regulations, and compiling finance reports for donors.

Accounting and Cashflow Management: Ensuring timely monthly accounting closures, reconciling balance accounts, and managing donor income.
Supporting Documentation and Auditing: Ensuring compliance with documentation procedures, leading annual audits, and supporting project audits.
Capacity Building: Providing leadership to the finance team, conducting training on finance procedures and donor regulations for staff across country and area offices.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of three years of experience in a senior finance role with managerial responsibilities, particularly in a humanitarian or recovery context. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory, while proficiency in French is also highly desirable. Candidates should have experience in risk management and remote management, along with a strong understanding of financial procedures and donor regulations.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary foundation for understanding complex financial systems and regulations relevant to the humanitarian sector.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least three years of relevant experience in a senior finance role, particularly within a humanitarian or recovery context. Experience in managing finance teams and working in challenging environments is essential, as is familiarity with the specific financial regulations and practices applicable to the region.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position, both written and verbal. Additionally, working proficiency in French is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and partners. Knowledge of other languages relevant to the region may also be beneficial.
Additional Notes: This position is based in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, and is offered as a 12-month national contract with the possibility of extension. The salary will be determined according to NRC’s Burkina Faso National salary scale, which is classified as grade
