Job Overview: This internship is part of the Joint Umoja HR Support Team within the Operational Support and Advisory Service (OSAS) of the Human ResourcesServices Division (HRSD) at the United Nations. The intern will play a crucial role in supporting the review, correction, and updating of school-related information in the SAP Umoja system. This position is designed to provide hands-on experience in data management and analysis, ensuring that the information used for school education grant processing is accurate, consistent, and complete. The intern will work closely with the Umoja HR Support Team Lead and will be involved in various tasks that contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the HR support services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Review, correct, and consolidate existing school data extracted from the Umoja education grant module to ensure accuracy and completeness, addressing any discrepancies such as missing fields, duplicate or outdated records.
Cross-reference data with official documents or external sources to verify validity and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
Maintain detailed logs of changes made to the data and follow internal documentation procedures to ensure transparency and accountability.
Collaborate with the self-service education grant project team to validate updates and ensure that all changes align with project goals.
Ensure compliance with data governance and privacy standards, safeguarding sensitive information throughout the process.
Provide support for other data cleanup initiatives and contribute to process improvement activities within the team as required.
Engage in creative thinking and constructive critique during team brainstorming sessions to refine and innovate project ideas, fostering a collaborative work environment.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required for the UN Internship Programme, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in standard software applications, particularly MS Word, Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams, to effectively perform the duties of the internship.
Educational Background: Candidates must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master’s or Ph.D. Programme. Proof of enrollment or completion must be provided with the application, and an official certificate will be required at a later stage to confirm eligibility for the internship.
Experience: While no prior professional work experience is required for this internship, candidates should have relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the position. This internship is particularly suited for individuals looking to gain practical experience in human resources and data management within an international organization.
Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of an additional official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's application.
Additional Notes: This internship is hybrid, allowing for both remote and in-office work, and is expected to last between 3 to 6 months.
