Job Overview: The internship in the Human Resources Section at ECLAC in Santiago is designed to last for a duration of six months. The selected intern will be placed in one of three areas of work: Recruitment, Staff Administration, or Staff Development and Performance Management. The intern will assist in implementing various initiatives and will be under the overall supervision of the Chief of the Human Resources Section. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in human resources within a prominent international organization, contributing to the management of ECLAC's Internship Programme and supporting various HR functions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will have a diverse set of responsibilities across the three units within the Human Resources Section. In the Recruitment Unit, the intern will provide support in managing ECLAC's Internship Programme, assist throughout the recruitment process, maintain communication channels, organize documentation, enhance employer branding, prepare monthly reports, collect and analyze data, and support training workshops. In the Staff Administration Unit, the intern will assist HR partners with onboarding and separation activities, update the Welcome Guide, administer surveys, prepare communications, and support special projects. In the Staff Development and Performance Management Unit, the intern will prepare training materials, keep attendance records, respond to queries, enter training statistics, support the e-learning platform, schedule videoconferences, and assist with training evaluations and reports. The intern may also be required to perform other duties as assigned by the HR Section.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent), or (b) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher). While professional work experience is not required for this internship, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Applicants must provide proof of their academic status and may need to submit an official certificate later in the application process.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes being a student in the final year of a bachelor’s degree, master’s, or Ph.D. programme, or having completed one of these degrees. Preferred fields of study include Administration, Human Resources, Data Analytics, Communication, and Advertising. Relevant training or practical experience with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint) or similar software is also required.
Experience: While applicants are not required to have professional work experience, relevant training or practical experience in the fields of Administration, Human Resources, Data Analytics, Communication, or Advertising is preferred. The internship is designed for students or recent graduates who are looking to gain practical experience in a professional setting.
Languages: Fluency in English and Spanish is required for this position, as these are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French is also beneficial but not mandatory. The ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish is essential for the intern's success in this role.
