Job Overview: The internship at the Latin American and Caribbean Institute for Economic and Social Planning (ILPES) is designed to last between 3 to 6 months, depending on the needs of the office. The selected intern will play a crucial role in strengthening the Planning Network for Development in Latin America and the Caribbean. This involves supporting strategic communication efforts, engaging with network members and ambassadors, and assisting in the organization of both virtual and in-person events. The intern will be expected to develop various forms of content, including graphic, narrative, and audiovisual materials, to enhance the visibility and dynamism of the Network. Additionally, the intern will contribute to the effective organization of events by supporting logistics, communication, and follow-up processes, ensuring that all materials and activities are presented clearly and coherently. The role also includes updating and disseminating key information to strengthen collaboration among participating countries and stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
Developing graphic, narrative, and audiovisual content that enhances the visibility and engagement of the Planning Network for Development.
Assisting in the organization of events, which includes logistical support, communication efforts, and systematizing follow-up activities.
Ensuring that all materials and activities related to the Network are presented in a clear, coherent, and high-quality manner.
Supporting the updating and dissemination of key information to facilitate exchange and collaboration among participating countries and stakeholders.
Engaging with network members and ambassadors to foster relationships and enhance participation in events and initiatives.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent), or (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher). The minimum required level of education is a high school diploma. Candidates are expected to be undergraduate students in their final semester or graduate students (currently enrolled or recently completed) in fields such as Social Sciences, Communication, International Relations, Educational Technologies, Public Administration, or related areas.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes being an undergraduate student in their final semester or a graduate student in relevant fields. Candidates should have completed or be enrolled in programs related to Social Sciences, Communication, International Relations, Educational Technologies, Public Administration, or similar disciplines. A minimum of a high school diploma is required, but higher education is preferred.
Experience: The level of experience needed for this position is primarily academic, as the internship is aimed at students or recent graduates. Candidates should have relevant coursework or projects that demonstrate their understanding of social sciences, communication strategies, or public administration. Previous internship experience in related fields may be beneficial but is not mandatory.
Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Additionally, fluency in Spanish is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication within the Latin American and Caribbean context.
