Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position in Climate Management at GIZ focuses on actively shaping sustainability initiatives within the organization. The intern will be involved in promoting corporate climate protection measures at international locations, particularly in the areas of renewable energy and energy efficiency. The role includes supporting the identification of climate protection measures that have high reduction potential and economic efficiency, contributing to the development of a company-wide sustainability program, and assisting in the creation of a climate transition plan aligned with international climate goals. The intern will also engage in climate and environmental accounting, possibly in connection with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and will be responsible for communication efforts such as publications and factsheets related to climate protection measures.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will support the promotion of corporate climate protection measures at GIZ's international locations, focusing on renewable energy and energy efficiency. Responsibilities include identifying climate protection measures with significant reduction potential and economic efficiency to optimize climate management. The intern will assist in the ongoing development of the new company-wide sustainability program and contribute to the drafting of a climate transition plan that aligns with international climate goals. Additionally, the intern will be involved in climate and environmental accounting, potentially in relation to the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and will help with communication initiatives, including creating publications and factsheets regarding climate protection measures at international sites.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed a foundational degree in one of the following fields: Sustainability Sciences, Economics (Environmental Economics), Energy and Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline. Basic competencies and knowledge in sustainability and environmental management, climate management, renewable energy, sustainable mobility, economic analyses, and data analysis are essential. A fundamental understanding of climate and development policy, the 2030 Agenda, and current development policy issues is also required. Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in the specified areas and a willingness to deepen their competencies. Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is necessary, along with fluent German and English language skills.

Educational Background:
The position requires a completed foundational degree in relevant fields such as Sustainability Sciences, Environmental Economics, Energy and Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, or similar disciplines. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of climate management and sustainability initiatives.

Experience:
The internship is designed for candidates who are currently enrolled in a degree program, are in a training program that includes an internship as an integral part, or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship. Therefore, prior professional experience is not strictly required, but relevant academic knowledge and a strong interest in the field are essential.

Languages:
Fluent proficiency in both German and English is mandatory for this position. This is crucial for effective communication within the organization and with international partners. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not explicitly required.
