Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is designed to support the Human Resources Services Division (HRSD) in advancing its AI transformation strategy. The intern will contribute to the development and deployment of Microsoft Copilot Studio agents and related automation tools. This role involves assisting in the design, creation, and refinement of custom Copilot Studio agents aimed at streamlining HR workflows and enhancing service delivery. The intern will collaborate with HR teams to identify recurring processes and tasks that could benefit from automation, proposing solutions utilizing Power Apps, Power Automate, and Copilot capabilities. The position also includes supporting the development of low-code/no-code solutions to facilitate operational efficiency across various HR functions. The intern will document processes, user guides, and best practices related to agent development, deployment, and maintenance, participate in user testing, gather feedback, and refine AI solutions based on user needs and organizational priorities. Additionally, the intern will conduct research on emerging trends in AI, automation, and digital transformation relevant to the HR function within international organizations, and may perform other related duties as required.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including:
Assisting in the design, creation, and refinement of custom Copilot Studio agents to streamline HR workflows and enhance service delivery.
Collaborating with HR teams to identify recurring processes and tasks that could benefit from automation, proposing solutions utilizing Power Apps, Power Automate, and Copilot capabilities.
Supporting the development of low-code/no-code solutions to facilitate operational efficiency across a range of HR functions.
Assisting in the integration of Python scripts and logic where needed to enhance automation workflows and agent functionalities.
Documenting processes, user guides, and best practices related to agent development, deployment, and maintenance.
Participating in user testing, gathering feedback, and refining AI solutions based on user needs and organizational priorities.
Conducting research on emerging trends in AI, automation, and digital transformation relevant to the HR function within international organizations.
Performing other related duties as required, under the supervision of the IT Focal Point and the Service Chief, Operational Support and Advisory Service.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Enrollment in or completion of a graduate or final undergraduate program in computer science, information systems, engineering, human resources management, or a related field is required. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Copilot and Copilot Studio, with demonstrated ability to create and manage agents is essential. Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform tools, particularly Power Apps and Power Automate, including the development of workflows, apps, and integrations is necessary. Foundational knowledge of Python programming and its application in automation scenarios is highly desirable. Understanding of HR operations and an interest in applying technology solutions to optimize HR service delivery is crucial. Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills are required, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes enrollment in or completion of a graduate or final undergraduate program in computer science, information systems, engineering, human resources management, or a related field. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. Programme. Proof of enrollment or completion must be attached to the application, and an official certificate will be required at a later stage.
Experience: While applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship being applied for is required. The internship is designed for individuals who are either in the final stages of their academic programs or have recently completed their degrees, allowing them to gain practical experience in a professional setting.
Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French, and familiarity with other official languages such as Arabic, Chinese, Russian, and Spanish is beneficial.
Additional Notes: The internship is UNPAID and designed to be full-time and in-person, with a minimum duration of three months and a preferred start date in June 202
It may be renewable for up to three additional months, totaling a maximum of six months. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member. HRSD currently offers flexible working arrangements, allowing for two days of telecommuting per week. Interns may request to conduct the internship part-time, which may be accommodated. For internships in the United States, non-citizens will need to obtain a G4 visa and ensure they have valid employment authorization. Interns are responsible for their own travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses. The United Nations does not charge a fee at any stage of the recruitment process.
