Job Overview: The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Executive Board Programme Analyst, providing essential support to the Executive Board Secretariat (EBS). This role involves assisting in the preparation of briefing notes, talking points, and other documentation by researching relevant topics. The intern will also draft correspondence to facilitate the coordination of meetings for the Executive Board. Additionally, the intern will help maintain and update the Executive Board website, manage the generic email inbox, and oversee email distribution lists. A key responsibility will be to regularly update a matrix that monitors the implementation of decisions made by the Executive Board, ensuring that it reflects the current status of specific requests. The intern will also assist in logistical arrangements and provide administrative support for meetings and related events. Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the preparation of briefing notes, talking points, and other documentation through thorough research on relevant topics.
Draft correspondence to assist in coordinating meetings of the Executive Board.
Maintain and update the Executive Board website, ensuring that all information is current and accessible.
Monitor the generic email inbox and manage email distribution lists to facilitate communication.
Regularly update the matrix that tracks the implementation of Executive Board decisions, liaising with various divisions across UN Women to ensure accuracy.
Provide logistical and administrative support for meetings and events organized by the Executive Board Secretariat.
Assist in the preparation of materials and documentation for official and informal sessions of the Executive Board.
Engage in learning objectives related to intergovernmental processes and the workings of UN Women.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to UN Women’s mission, vision, and values. Educational Background: Candidates must have university studies in disciplines such as Social Sciences, Political Science, International Relations, Philosophy, or other relevant subjects. They must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); have graduated with a university degree and must commence the internship within a two-year period of graduation; or be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program that is part of a degree program and undertake the internship as part of the program requirements.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have relevant experience that may include internships, volunteer work, or academic projects related to gender equality, international relations, or administrative support. While specific years of experience are not mandated, candidates should demonstrate familiarity with intergovernmental processes and the workings of international organizations, particularly in the context of gender issues.
Languages: Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral, are mandatory for this position. A working knowledge of another UN language is considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage in a multilingual environment and support diverse communication needs.
Additional Notes: The internship is designed to provide valuable experience in a professional setting, with a focus on gender equality and women's empowerment. Interns who do not receive financial support from other sources will receive a stipend from UN Women to help cover basic living costs during the internship.
