Job Overview: The Head of Logistics Department will ensure and implement the strategic management of all logistics aspects of the mission in Haiti. This role involves designing and aligning logistics policies and procedures, leading the coordination of logistics activities at the mission level, and providing adequate support to programs. The position requires developing and maintaining an up-to-date logistics strategy for the national office, managing warehouses, implementing best practices for stock movements, and ensuring that logistics priorities are considered in design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design. The Head of Logistics will also lead the development and execution of annual logistics plans, which encompass procurement, fleet management, information technology, facilities management, and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security plans. This role is crucial for making logistics data available to other departments and for collaborating with HR to attract and develop a productive logistics team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain an up-to-date logistics strategy for the national office.
Oversee all warehouses and implement best practices for managing and tracking stock movements.
Lead the development and implementation of Action Against Hunger standards governing key logistics functions.
Participate in program development processes to ensure logistics priorities are considered.
Develop and execute annual logistics plans, including procurement, fleet management, IT, facilities management, and security.
Make logistics data available to other departments.
Collaborate with HR to attract and develop a productive logistics team.
Willingness to deploy to bases affected by security situations. 1
Experience in developing and adapting standard operating procedures in complex humanitarian settings. 1
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build team spirit.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in logistics, business, or a related field. Professional qualifications in logistics management are preferred, indicating a strong foundation in the principles and practices of logistics and supply chain management.
Experience: Candidates should have at least five years of senior professional experience in logistics, ideally in an international context. This experience should include managing complex logistics operations and developing logistics strategies in humanitarian or development settings.
Languages: Fluency in French and English is mandatory for this position, as these are the working languages in Haiti. Knowledge of Creole is considered an asset, enhancing communication with local stakeholders and communities.
