Job Overview: The Facilities Officer (Real Estate) position within the Corporate Services and Facilities Management Department at the IMF is a critical role that involves overseeing a portfolio of IMF-owned and leased real estate assets. The incumbent will manage the execution of both international and domestic lease transactions and oversee vendor-led tasks. Reporting to the Section Chief of Global Real Estate, the Facilities Officer will be based at the IMF headquarters in Washington, D.C., but may also be required to travel periodically to IMF overseas field offices. The Global Real Estate Section manages a vast portfolio of approximately 220 properties across over 100 member countries, including commercial offices and executive residences. The Facilities Officer will provide transaction and project management services to support the global real estate program, ensuring that the IMF's real estate needs are met efficiently and effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Facilities Officer will be responsible for a variety of duties, including developing and implementing a market intelligence repository that summarizes real estate and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security conditions in the markets where the IMF operates. The officer will identify suitable properties and assess their suitability by visualizing future states and estimating potential retrofit costs. The role involves representing the IMF in negotiations for real estate lease agreements, ensuring that all agreements include standard IMF clauses and comply with local laws. The Facilities Officer will also control costs, drive service excellence, and mitigate risks associated with third-party relationships. Additionally, the officer will manage vendor activities, maintain vendor relationships, and collaborate with other IMF support groups to explore operational efficiencies. The Facilities Officer will assist the Section Chief with specific assignments and provide project-related support to Senior Officers on assigned projects.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Real Estate, Facilities, Hospitality, or Design and Construction, or a bachelor's degree supplemented by a minimum of six years of relevant professional experience in these fields. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in executing international real estate lease transactions, particularly in challenging markets, and managing real estate projects for both commercial and residential properties. Experience in emerging or developing countries is advantageous. Candidates should also have a working knowledge of commercial interior renovations, including physical security enhancements, and the ability to design space plans and manage renovations within budget and schedule constraints. Educational Background: A relevant advanced university degree in Real Estate, Facilities, Hospitality, or Design and Construction is required. Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of six years of relevant professional experience in Real Estate, Facilities, Hospitality, or Design and Construction. The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure is crucial for success in this role.
Languages: Strong written and oral communication skills in English are mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages such as French, Spanish, Arabic, or Russian is considered a plus and may enhance a candidate's suitability for the position.
Additional Notes: This position is a two-year contractual appointment, with the possibility of renewal for up to four years of cumulative contractual service, depending on performance, budget availability, and ongoing business needs.
