Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position focuses on climate-resilient and low-emission agricultural and food systems. The intern will be involved in supporting the climate mainstreaming efforts within GIZ projects, particularly in developing methodologies and recommendations for planning, implementing, and financing ambitious climate initiatives. The role is designed for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the world and are eager to develop their skills in a dynamic and impactful environment. The internship is set to take place from June 16, 2025, to December 15, 2025, and can be offered on a full-time or part-time basis, depending on the intern's availability and preferences.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for conducting research, analyzing, and preparing relevant information for project outlines related to mitigation and adaptation measures in agricultural and food systems, as well as climate policy frameworks in partner countries and climate financing. Organizational support will be provided for collaboration with partner countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, which includes preparing for and following up on meetings, creating presentations, and taking minutes. The intern will also assist in the development of knowledge products for the planning, implementation, and financing of climate initiatives and contribute to digitalization processes. Additionally, the intern will support communication and public relations efforts for the project and may take on routine tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should be currently enrolled in or have recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field related to agricultural and food systems, climate change, or international development cooperation. Knowledge in one or more of the following areas is essential: transformation of agricultural and food systems, climate protection, adaptation to climate change, and international climate policy. The ideal candidate should have strong writing and research skills, be able to work independently and accurately, and possess good communication abilities. Experience in digital knowledge management and communication work is considered an advantage. The ability to manage diverse tasks effectively and work well in a team is also important. Proficiency in MS Office applications is required.
Educational Background: The position requires candidates to be enrolled in a relevant Bachelor's or Master's program or to have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship. This educational background should be closely related to the fields of agricultural and food systems, climate change, or development cooperation, ensuring that the intern has the necessary theoretical knowledge to contribute effectively to the projects.
Experience: While specific prior experience is not mandatory, any relevant internships or academic projects related to climate change, agricultural systems, or development cooperation will be beneficial. The organization values candidates who demonstrate a proactive approach to learning and a commitment to the field, even if their experience is limited.
Languages: Fluency in German, both spoken and written, is mandatory for this position. Additionally, very good English language skills are required to facilitate communication in an international context. Knowledge of other languages may be considered an asset but is not a requirement.
Additional Notes: The internship is only available to candidates who are currently enrolled in a study program that requires an internship as part of their curriculum or who have graduated within the last six months. The monthly stipend for interns is €2,205.04 (gross).
