Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Movement Control Assistant include:
  • Assisting in the control of military, police, and civilian personnel and equipment movements throughout the mission area.
  • Providing liaison support with Movement Control Section detachments and offices as required.
  • Preparing briefings and statistical reports to support movement operations.
  • Coordinating movement activities within a sector or mission area, ensuring efficient transport arrangements via road, air, and river.
  • Assisting in the planning and execution of rotations and repatriations of military and police contingents.
  • Liaising with international civilian transport agencies to implement contingent movement plans.
  • Deploying and supervising mobile Movement teams for high-intensity operations when directed.
  • Overseeing air terminal operations, including assisting with passenger baggage movement and check-in processes.
  • Performing other related duties as required to support the mission's objectives.

Required Qualifications:

The duty station is located in Bangui, which is classified as a non-family duty station due to the challenging security and living conditions. Personnel may be required to work and travel in remote locations, and adherence to security instructions from the UN Department of Safety and Security is mandatory. The living conditions in the Central African Republic are difficult, with limited medical infrastructure, high costs of living, and a scarcity of basic goods. UN personnel are encouraged to share accommodations to mitigate costs, and the average monthly rent for housing can vary significantly based on the amenities provided.
