Job Overview: The consultant will play a vital role in supporting the IOM mission in Tajikistan, particularly in the context of the Comprehensive Action Plan for Afghanistan and Neighboring Countries (CAP) and the Regional Refugee Response Plan for Afghanistan (RRP). The primary focus of this position is to enhance social cohesion and improve access to services for both Tajik and Afghan communities. The consultant will be responsible for empowering communities, supporting vulnerable populations, and integrating mental health and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support (MHPSS) into livelihood initiatives. This role requires effective coordination with various stakeholders to achieve the project's overarching goals of promoting social cohesion and improving livelihoods.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be tasked with mapping the provision of basic services and protection activities at the micro level, ensuring that information about these resources is disseminated effectively. They will provide direct assistance to vulnerable individuals and families, including women, children, and persons with disabilities. Organizing sensitization and problem-solving group sessions to address social issues within the community is also a key responsibility. The consultant will strengthen existing social networks and promote participatory initiatives that foster psychosocial support. They will identify vulnerable cases and ensure their access to protection services while coordinating community-based activities. Additionally, the consultant will facilitate MHPSS needs assessments and integrate MHPSS considerations into livelihood support activities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in social sciences, social work, or a related field. Previous experience in social and protection activities, particularly with vulnerable populations, is highly advantageous. Demonstrated experience in coordinating activities with team members and community stakeholders is essential. Knowledge of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) programming is also required, along with experience in mobilizing resources and building community capacity.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in social sciences, social work, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of social issues and the dynamics of working with vulnerable populations.
Experience: Candidates should have previous experience in social and protection activities, particularly in areas related to the intervention. Experience working with vulnerable populations, such as women, children, and persons with disabilities, is crucial. Additionally, experience in coordinating activities with team members and community stakeholders is necessary, along with knowledge of MHPSS needs assessments and programming.
Languages: Fluency in Tajik and Russian is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in other relevant languages spoken by the community or beneficiaries is considered an asset. IOM's official languages include English, French, and Spanish, and proficiency in these languages may be evaluated during the selection process.
Additional Notes: The position does not require travel.
