Job Overview:
The Associate Banker position is integral to the project cycle at the EBRD, encompassing project origination, structuring, execution, implementation, and monitoring. The role requires the Associate Banker to take on various responsibilities assigned by the operation leader, which may include conducting comprehensive due diligence across financial, market, integrity, and EBRD policy compliance. The Associate Banker will work closely with project teams and senior bankers to ensure effective implementation and monitoring of projects, contributing to the overall success of the Bank's operational objectives. This position also involves elements of business development, client management, and policy dialogue, making it a dynamic role within the organization. The Associate Banker will be expected to engage actively in the Small Business Initiative (SBI) and support SMEs through finance and advisory services, thereby playing a vital role in the economic development of the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate Banker will be responsible for a wide range of duties under the guidance of the operation leader or a more senior banker. Key responsibilities include:
  • Structuring and Execution: Collaborate as a project team member on transactions, contributing to all aspects of project structuring and execution. This includes liaising with client counterparts, consultants, and other stakeholders to advance projects. The Associate Banker will lead the project due diligence process, ensuring compliance with financial, market, integrity, and EBRD policies. They will prepare internal project documentation, such as project memoranda, financial models, and presentations, as required.
  • Portfolio Monitoring: Oversee the implementation and monitoring of assigned projects, ensuring compliance with project agreements and Bank procedures. This involves monitoring project progress, assessing risk factors, and preparing comprehensive monitoring reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Business Development: Assist with marketing and business development initiatives as needed, contributing to the growth and success of the Bank's operations. The Associate Banker will also have opportunities to develop transaction expertise and expand their responsibilities, potentially leading to a role as an operation leader on standard transactions.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Associate Banker position must possess a Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in relevant fields. Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are desirable. Strong quantitative and numerical skills are essential, along with the ability to interpret financial information and design financial models.
