Job Overview:
The Consultant for Direct Assistance Services will play a crucial role in supporting victims of trafficking, vulnerable migrants, and those at risk of trafficking. This position involves the implementation of Direct Assistance services, ensuring that timely financial aid and administrative support are provided to those in need. The consultant will work closely with case workers and other stakeholders to deliver critical services while adhering to the highest moral and ethical standards. The role requires a strong commitment to respecting gender and socio-cultural differences among migrants, as well as a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration with various teams within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for facilitating the provision of financial assistance to eligible migrants, preparing necessary documentation for procurement-related expenses, and ensuring the reimbursement of costs to beneficiaries. Key tasks include supporting IOM Migrant Assistance Advisors in prioritizing urgent cases, liaising with migrants to monitor assistance delivery, and collaborating with case workers to coordinate financial appointments. The consultant will also establish mechanisms for data collection and management related to financial assistance, verify the accuracy of paperwork, manage petty cash accounts, and maintain confidentiality in all dealings. Administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, and managing office supplies will also be part of the responsibilities. The consultant may be assigned additional duties as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a community work-related field from an accredited institution, along with 1 to 2 years of experience in the humanitarian field. Experience working with governmental and diplomatic authorities, as well as international organizations, is considered an advantage. Proficiency in word processing and typing skills in both English and Arabic is essential, along with experience in using Excel and databases. A thorough working knowledge of both languages, both spoken and written, is required for effective communication and documentation.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field related to community work or humanitarian assistance. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of migration issues and the necessary support mechanisms for vulnerable populations.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in the humanitarian sector. This experience should include direct work with vulnerable populations, understanding of migration issues, and familiarity with the operational frameworks of international organizations. Experience in collaborating with governmental and diplomatic entities will be beneficial for this role.

Languages:
Proficiency in Arabic and English is mandatory for this position. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in both languages, as the role involves interaction with diverse stakeholders and documentation in both languages. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.

Additional Notes:
The position is subject to funding confirmation, and the appointment will require certification of medical fitness, verification of residency, visa, and necessary authorizations from the concerned government. IOM provides coverage against occupational accidents and illnesses under its Compensation Plan for the duration of the consultancy. However, consultants are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accidents or illnesses and must provide proof of coverage before starting work. IOM maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding conduct that contradicts the organization's aims, including discrimination and harassment.
