The consultant will be responsible for formulating monitoring indicators in the field of blue economy. This role is crucial as it contributes to the broader goals of sustainable development and environmental conservation, particularly in the context of climate change. The consultant will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure that the strategies developed are effective and aligned with national and international objectives. The mission is expected to last for 30 working days, which includes 5 days of fieldwork and the submission of deliverables. The consultant will need to submit their proposal directly through the UNDP supplier portal, adhering to the guidelines provided.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Consultant.e national.e en économie bleue include:
Conducting a comprehensive analysis of the current state of the blue economy in Ivory Coast.
Identifying and prioritizing options for mitigation and adaptation in relation to the NDC 3.
Quantifying the identified options to provide a clear understanding of their potential impact.
Developing monitoring indicators that will help track progress in the blue economy sector.
Collaborating with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and local communities, to gather insights and validate findings.
Preparing detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.
Ensuring that all deliverables are submitted on time and meet the quality standards set by UNDP.
Engaging in discussions and consultations to refine strategies and approaches based on feedback received.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for this position include a strong background in environmental science, economics, or a related field. The consultant should possess expertise in blue economy concepts and practices, as well as experience in climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies. Strong analytical skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively. Familiarity with UNDP processes and procedures is an advantage. The consultant should also demonstrate a commitment to sustainable development and possess the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Educational Background: Candidates should hold at least a Master's degree in environmental science, economics, sustainable development, or a related field. Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in the fields of environmental management, blue economy, or climate change. Experience working with international organizations, particularly within the UN system, is highly desirable. Proven track record of conducting research and analysis related to environmental policies and strategies is essential. The consultant should also have experience in project management and stakeholder engagement.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the official language of Ivory Coast. Proficiency in English is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international stakeholders and enhance the consultant's ability to access a wider range of resources and information.
Additional Notes: This position is for an individual contractor and is expected to be a short-term engagement lasting for 30 working days.
