The assignment is set for a period of nine expert days in May 2025, during which the expert will engage in various activities including consultations, drafting legal documents, and providing recommendations to enhance the legal system in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The expert will work closely with UNDP and local stakeholders to ensure that the legal frameworks are effective and responsive to the needs of the population.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the SPSC-IC-Expert on Family Law and Law on the Administrative Procedures include but are not limited to:
Conducting a comprehensive analysis of existing family law and administrative procedures in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Providing expert recommendations for legal reforms and improvements in family law and administrative procedures.
Drafting legal documents, reports, and policy recommendations based on the analysis and consultations with stakeholders.
Engaging with government officials, civil society organizations, and other relevant stakeholders to gather input and feedback on proposed legal changes.
Facilitating workshops and training sessions to educate stakeholders on new legal frameworks and procedures.
Monitoring and evaluating the implementation of legal reforms and providing ongoing support to ensure compliance with international standards.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following qualifications:
A strong background in family law and administrative law, with a deep understanding of the legal context in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Proven experience in legal analysis, drafting, and reform processes.
Familiarity with international legal standards and best practices in family law and administrative procedures.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
Educational Background: Candidates should have a minimum of a Master's degree in Law, with a focus on family law, administrative law, or a related field. A PhD in Law or equivalent experience in legal practice will be considered an asset. Additionally, candidates should have a strong academic record and relevant certifications that demonstrate expertise in family law and administrative procedures.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the field of law, specifically in family law and administrative procedures. Experience working with international organizations, government agencies, or NGOs on legal reform projects is highly desirable. Candidates should also have a track record of successfully implementing legal frameworks and policies in a complex legal environment.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as all documentation and communication will be conducted in English. Proficiency in Bosnian, Croatian, or Serbian is considered an asset, as it will facilitate better communication with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of the expert's work.
