Job Overview: The Project Analyst position is crucial for managing day-to-day operations of projects under the Brazilian Cooperation Agency's South-South cooperation initiatives. The role involves close collaboration with project partners and donors to ensure smooth implementation, adherence to quality standards, budget management, and timely delivery of project outcomes. The Project Analyst will also be responsible for performance management of project staff, ensuring alignment with UNDP's rules and regulations, and providing technical support to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness. This position requires a proactive approach to monitoring and evaluation, guiding the development of systems for tracking project progress, and facilitating communication among stakeholders to promote knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage the project on a day-to-day basis, ensuring smooth implementation and adherence to quality, budget, and timelines.
Articulate and follow up with project partners and donors, including UN Agencies and UNDP Country Offices.
Undertake performance management of project staff, including establishing annual results and conducting assessments.
Manage project budgets and ensure timely reporting.
Conduct planning, monitoring, and evaluation activities, including elaborating project work plans and monitoring progress against performance indicators.
Organize quarterly and annual project reviews, assessing results and identifying areas for improvement.
Monitor and manage risks/issues, submitting new risks to the Programme Analyst for consideration.
Participate in selection processes for Letters of Agreement and consultant panels. 1
Facilitate communication with stakeholders and contribute to knowledge networks and communities of practice. 1
Prepare project progress reports and support the identification of lessons learned and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
Advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in international relations, administration, economics, international cooperation, social sciences, political sciences, biological sciences, agricultural sciences, engineering, or a related field is required.
A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) with an additional two years of qualifying experience may be considered in lieu of the advanced degree.
Relevant experience working with government counterparts or international organizations is essential.
Strong leadership, management, and negotiation skills are required, along with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in relevant fields such as international relations, administration, economics, or social sciences. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) combined with two years of relevant experience will be considered. This educational background is critical for understanding the complexities of international cooperation and project management.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience at the national or international level in project management for candidates with a bachelor's degree. Applicants with a master's degree are not required to have prior work experience. Additionally, experience in managing or implementing international cooperation projects, particularly in South-South Cooperation, is highly desirable. Familiarity with UNDP’s South-South and Triangular Cooperation partners is also beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in Portuguese, English, and Spanish is mandatory for this position. Intermediate knowledge of French is considered a desirable asset, enhancing communication capabilities within diverse international contexts.
Additional Notes: This is a project-funded position with an initial duration of one year, with the possibility of renewal based on project needs. The role is full-time and requires the candidate to work under the guidance of the UNDP Program Officer, ensuring alignment between technical, administrative, and operational actions.
