Job Overview:
The logistics-officer" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Officer position at WFP involves contributing to the daily planning and coordination of logistics operations. This role is crucial for ensuring that logistics services provided by contracted external organizations are cost-effective and meet the objectives set by WFP. The Logistics Officer will be responsible for developing logistics plans and processes that comply with WFP standards, managing logistics projects, and analyzing data to recommend improvements to senior staff. The position requires a proactive approach to operational activities, ensuring that food assistance reaches beneficiaries efficiently. The Logistics Officer will also support capacity building for WFP staff and partners, ensuring effective delivery of food assistance, and participate in emergency logistics preparedness to respond quickly to crises. This role is integral to the overall mission of WFP, which is to provide humanitarian assistance to those in need.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Officer will have a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: developing logistics plans and processes in compliance with WFP policies; managing logistics projects and operational activities; collecting and analyzing data to recommend actions for performance improvement; conducting analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis and budget reviews; contributing to operational pipeline planning and supply chain management; providing technical support to other units; guiding and supervising junior staff; preparing accurate and timely reports, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs); supporting capacity building initiatives; building productive relationships with logistics colleagues; participating in emergency logistics preparedness; and reviewing internal processes to enhance efficiency. The role may also require acting in an emergency response capacity as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree with additional years of relevant work experience and/or training may be acceptable. The position requires a minimum of three years of working experience in logistics or a related field, with a preference for candidates who have experience in commercial or humanitarian transportation sectors, monitoring transport and freight market conditions, dealing with customs officials, coordinating procurement and transportation processes, and managing warehouse operations. Familiarity with corporate systems and databases is also desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for the Logistics Officer position include an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or Business Management. Candidates with a first university degree and additional relevant work experience or training may also be considered.
