Job Overview:
The Project Coordinator for Migrant Protection and Assistance will play a crucial role in the implementation of a project aimed at enhancing the integration of technological efficiencies into the workflows of migration and asylum processes in Belgium. This position requires strong project coordination skills and a solid understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and enterprise architecture. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Head of Unit for Migrant Protection and Assistance and will be responsible for coordinating project activities, liaising with stakeholders, and ensuring effective communication and reporting to project donors. The role also involves policy support and outreach, including identifying partnerships and drafting presentations related to migrant protection and assistance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will assist in coordinating the implementation of project activities, including following up on work plans and deliverables, organizing steering committees, and facilitating focus group discussions. They will liaise with partners and stakeholders to monitor project progress and provide necessary information to donors. Additionally, the Project Coordinator will coordinate with internal IOM units on budget management, contracts, and procurement processes. They will assist in drafting final narrative and financial reports for submission to donors. In terms of policy support, the incumbent will identify potential partnerships with civil society organizations and other stakeholders, draft conference presentations, and participate in meetings related to migrant protection and assistance. They will also support the development of new projects and initiatives by drafting concept notes and identifying funding opportunities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in political science, social science, migration studies, or a related field from an accredited institution, along with three years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, candidates with a completed High School degree and a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience will also be considered. Proven experience in project management, monitoring, and data analysis tools is essential, along with a background in tech integration into migration and asylum processes. Strong organizational, time-management, communication, and diplomatic skills are required, as well as the ability to work independently under tight deadlines.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree or higher in relevant fields such as political science, social science, or migration studies from an accredited academic institution. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Candidates with a completed High School degree and significant professional experience may also qualify for this role.

Experience:
Candidates should have proven working experience in project management, with a strong emphasis on project monitoring and data analysis. Experience in the field of technology integration into migration and asylum processes is considered an advantage. A solid understanding of AI and enterprise architecture as part of organizational efficiency-building is also beneficial. The role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while meeting deadlines.

Languages:
Fluency in English, French, and Dutch is required, both orally and in writing. IOM’s official languages include English, French, and Spanish, and proficiency in these languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
