Job Overview: The Legal Expert position within EUROCONTROL is a critical role that involves providing legal counsel and institutional advice related to the organization's activities. The selected candidate will be responsible for addressing both internal and law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law matters, ensuring compliance with the legal framework of the organization, and representing EUROCONTROL in legal matters. The Legal Expert will also support the resolution of legal disputes and contentious matters, contributing to the drafting and review of legal documents, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure adherence to legal standards across various projects.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Legal Expert include providing legal advice and guidance on a range of legal and institutional matters, performing legal research and analysis in relevant areas of law, supporting the resolution of legal disputes, and drafting legal documents. The expert will collaborate with senior management and other stakeholders to provide legal support, ensuring compliance with the organization's legal framework. Participation in meetings to offer expert legal advice, staying updated on legal developments, and carrying out additional tasks aligned with the job's main purpose are also key responsibilities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed third-level studies in Law, meeting the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) Level 7, and possess a minimum of three years of relevant working experience, ideally in an international organization, governmental agency, law firm, or the aviation industry. A postgraduate degree in specific fields of law, such as civil servants’ law, labour law, international law, aviation law, EU law, data privacy, AI, or cybersecurity law, is advantageous. Experience in drafting legal documents in both English and French is required, along with knowledge of public international law, aviation law, and European law being considered an asset.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a law degree that meets the European Qualifications Framework Level
Candidates should have a strong foundation in various legal disciplines, with a preference for those who have pursued postgraduate studies in specialized areas of law relevant to the organization's work.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience, ideally gained in settings such as international organizations, governmental agencies, law firms, or the aviation industry. This experience should include practical exposure to legal research, drafting legal documents, and providing legal advice in a professional context.
Languages: Proficiency in English and French at level C1 is mandatory for this position, both orally and in writing. This requirement aligns with the European Framework Reference for languages (CEFR). Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
Additional Notes: The position is offered as a full-time role with a duration of five years, subject to renewal or conversion under specific conditions. The selected candidate will undergo a probationary period of nine months before being established in the post. The appointment may be renewed multiple times, but the total duration, including all renewals, cannot exceed nine years.
