Job Overview:
The position of Support Officer for Official Travel and Expert Hiring is crucial for the effective functioning of the Monetary and Capital Markets Department (MCM) at the IMF. The successful candidate will work under the general supervision of the Division Chief and Deputy Division Chiefs, collaborating closely with team members within the division and across the department. The role involves supporting the administration of MCM's official travel, expert hiring, and contracting processes, as well as organizing seminars, workshops, and conferences. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth travel operations, monitoring expenditures, coordinating recruitment processes for Short-Term Experts (STX), and planning MCM-sponsored seminars and events. The role requires a proactive approach, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Support Officer include:
  • Supporting Official Travel: Coordinating internal processes related to official travel for staff, including travel approvals and claims processing, to ensure smooth travel operations.
  • Monitoring Expenditures: Keeping track of staff expenditures on travel to ensure compliance with IMF policies and to prevent overspending.
  • Recruitment of Short-Term Experts (STX): Coordinating the vetting and recruitment processes for STX, ensuring a client-focused and efficient approach. This includes communication and coordination with external partner agencies such as central banks and ministries of finance.
  • Implementing Policies: Applying various IMF policies, procedures, and IT systems related to STX.
  • Planning and Organizing Seminars: Coordinating a large volume of MCM-sponsored seminars, ensuring budget optimization and adherence to procurement procedures.
  • Supporting Meetings: Assisting in the organization of spring and annual meetings.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Working collaboratively with other departments and divisions to explain Fund policies and procedures, contributing to various working groups as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree or equivalent in business management, finance, economics, computer science, or a related field. They should demonstrate strong teamwork abilities, excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
