Job Overview: The Finance Officer in the Accounting Unit plays a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of the organization. Duties and Responsibilities: The Finance Officer will be responsible for a wide range of duties including: supporting the Technical Officer with SSD-related matters, preparing cash flow consolidations, managing payment packages for approval, inputting payments into the banking system, updating finance trackers, acting as the finance focal point for payment requests, assisting with balance sheet reconciliations, collaborating during audits, managing petty cash and reimbursements, preparing staff timesheets, covering payroll responsibilities, ensuring timely booking of Agresso records, reviewing employee expense claims, and completing any additional tasks assigned by the line manager. The Finance Officer must ensure that all financial transactions are properly documented and archived, maintaining a high level of accuracy and compliance with internal controls.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in a finance role, with at least 1 year in a Finance Officer or Assistant position within a humanitarian or recovery context. A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance-related fields is required. Proficiency in Excel and previous experience with accounting software are essential. Candidates should also have strong leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively in both Arabic and English, both written and verbal. Knowledge of the Agresso Accounting System is considered an asset, along with training and capacity-building skills.
Educational Background: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a finance-related field. This educational background is essential for understanding financial principles and practices, as well as for performing the various tasks associated with the role of Finance Officer.
